This mgoblog site is a pretty good place to get information on the search. Here's what the guy says today:

quote:

MILES? Webb also reiterated what Les Miles himself said a couple days ago: unlike everyone from Steve Addazio on up, he hasn't heard anything from Michigan. Lorenz thinks that's not a death knell for his prospects($) if Harbaugh doesn't happen; John U Bacon had a similar take in a post-Bust interview with the local Fox station that MGoUser michgoblue provided Cliffs Notes for on the board. I'm still skeptical, as you know.

LINK

Quoting the Cliff Notes link he cites:

quote:

John U. Bacon was interviewed on myfoxdetroit last night following the Michigan football bust, and of course the topic shifted to the coaching search. For those who don't want to listen, JUB said:
1. He believes that Harbaugh is still Michigan's top choice and that JH is still considering the option.

2. He does not believe the recent NFL.com and similar NFL-source reports that Harbaugh has rejected Michigan.

3. He also does not believe reports that Harbaugh is "signed, sealed, delivered" to Michigan.

4. He believes that even Harbaugh doesn't know at this point.

5. If we do not land Harbaugh, JUB still believes that we would end up with Miles. His reasoning is that Hackett knows that much of the fanbase wants Miles if Harbaugh says no, and that Hackett is very good at listening to the fanbase.

Food for thought. And the John Bacon guy is a Michigan grad and sports journalist with close access to Michigan football, FWIW.

I hope not. I want Miles/Cameron/Chavez at LSU for the next 20 years.

I understand the first two, but why would any non-LSU fan want Chavis there?

The two dudes on NBC Sunday Night Football (the NFL insider guys...can't remember their names) both said that a divorce between Harbaugh and the 49ers is inevitable in a few weeks...their relationship is irreparable. They also said that Harbaugh has been 100% unequivocal that he will remain in the NFL.

So the only question regarding Harbaugh is which NFL team will he be coaching next year? And how much time will Michigan waste trying to convince him to be their next coach?

You're right, they're wasting time waiting on Harbaugh.

This just continues the same things that have been said. Nfl sources believe he is staying in the NFL for sure, Michigan sources think they're still talking to him as he hasn't made up his mind yet.

Nobody really knows anything for certain.

Chaves wastes more talent annually than any 3 coaches combined.
