West Virginia was very good offensively that season. So that last game probably affected their ranking by about 10 slots.

Keep in mind, LSU gave up 533 yards to that same West Virginia team that year. And we had a pretty good defense, if you recall.

I remember Clemson's offense turning the ball over several times that night too.

I'm not terribly excited by the hire either, but it's not like Steele's whole career went like his last one at Clemson.
