UPDATE: LSU athletic director Joe Alleva told the Advocate on Monday that he expects Les Miles to be his head coach next season. The AD is ready for the speculation that Miles will be heading to Colorado, Michigan, and on and on. But he doesn't foresee having to go through a coaching search himself this offseason.
As for Miles' staff? Alleva told the paper that any changes will be the head coach's call, not his. There has been rampant speculation in Baton Rouge that offensive coordinator Gary Crowton will not return after the final year of his three-year contract.
Miles and Crowton have butted heads over play calling this season, and LSU ranks last in the SEC in passing offense, last in touchdown passes and second-to-last in total offense.
...
With the loss to Arkansas on the table and the coaching carousel starting to spin, rumors of Les Miles' exit from LSU are beginning to swirl.
Austin American-Stateman columnist Kirk Bohls writes that he's heard Miles is growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of backing from the LSU family, and that if he were to leave, the Tigers would come hard after Texas assistant Will Muschamp.
Bohls thinks Muschamp would consider the move strongly, and Bohls has Miles perhaps moving to Michigan to replace Rich Rodriguez, who is on very shaky ground at the moment.
But Bohls' advice for the Wolverines is to hire Stanford's Jim Harbaugh before the NFL snatches him up.

I don't care who the coach is as long as we compete for the SEC title.

I see us more as a frustrated mob than a family.

If and again I say IF Miles left, I would not want Muschamp as our next coach.
But, I think Miles stays put and honestly, I am in favor of him staying. He runs a clean program abd recruits as well as anyone could ask for.
HOWEVER....get rid of Crowton and bring in an OC that can call plays and also let him manage the clock.

Muschamp ain't getting the LSU job. His stock is very low right now. Coaching is timing in alot of ways. You have to strike while the iron is hot.

That $4 million a yr backing? Sorry it comes with expectations Les but this isnt Okie St.
The salary should have told you that...
If your that "frustrated", maybe you arent SEC coach material... It comes with the job and the $4 million a yr salary.

I agree, but do you think WM is a worse coach today than when he was "Hot"?
Either you have the goods or you don't

Nor would I. NO proven head coaching experience. Too much of a risk. LSU is past the point of having to gamble on OC/DC's. BTW, what did Muschamp do at Texas this season?........

Les Miles and his commitment to Gary Crowton is destroying what little joy I still find in the sport of football.
