Chiz succeeded because he hired a great coordinator to do the coaching. Is Steele going to hire a coordinator to do his coordinating?

I'm trying to be positive but this took too long for what LSU got in return. Steele's defenses were pretty bad at Clemson. Hope he does better at LSU but he may not be cut out for that position.

Positive Spin (since we are stuck with Steele) The world of CFB initially laughed at Auburn's Jay Jacobs for hiring Gene Chizik. The Auburn fanbase was livid. But Chizik ultimately made the right moves with staff, and paid the right players. It got Chizik and Auburn fans a Crystal Ball before Chizik was ousted. It's possible, this could be a similar over-reaction by our fanbase, and could look back on this hire as a really good one. That's all I got. Whatchu got?

Clemson's defenses were bad during Steele's last two years and they were bad also last year (63 rank). Hard to put lipstick on a pig. Hopefully, with LSU talent he can put a better product on the field.

Were they? His 2010 defense was ranked 13th in scoring D, while his 2009 D was ranked 25th. His 2011 D wasn't very good though.

I think Les is just looking for someone to pin blame on when he get's fired.

i think they cant sign a top level dc to a non guaranteed contract. thats what this is all about. we had to settle because alleva, for all the shite talk about him, is making it as cheap as possible to ditch miles if he fricks up this coming year. i dont blame alleva one bit.

Yes his 2010 D was good. Clemson had the 37th ranked recruiting class in 2009 so they may not have been supportive of a great Defense in 11 and 12.
