Interim

Actually a good move. It may be that hey have a line on somebody who has to wait until a bowl game/NFL playoff responsibilities, and Osborne, smartly, wants to get out and at least hold the recruits they have and keep pressing on their top uncommitted prospects, "holding serve" as it were until the Christmas dead period.

If we can't get a very quick hire following the Miles announcement (and by "very quick", I mean 48 hours) I hope our guys are smart enough to do that with Crowton (or somebody, heck Stovall) to give the kids a face and a name and somebody to talk to, at least informally, on what's going on at the school. Not all of our recruits were raised bleeding purple and gold.

My bet is Osbourne returns as coach of the huskers and hires gill as oc in order to groom him for the job later. If he plans to have a coach in place next week why do this?

Once again pelini will be available in three days. Why make this move now? Really doesn't make sense to me.

They agreed to wait till after the bowl game?

Gill is available now. If its him why wait?

Last I heard they had it down to two people per ESPN.

I can't see nebraska waiting till after the bowl game for pellini. I also can't see pellini waiting either. I would want to assemble a staff, buy a home, etc. The only other possibility besides an osbourne return would be waiting on pinkel from mizzou. This is all speculation on my part because this is a strange move.

Well, that's certainly one way to guarantee yourself a head coaching position.

Usurp power as the new AD, fire the current head coach, and appoint oneself the new coach in charge.

Very Machiavellian.

I thought Osbourne was the interim AD?!?

How can he be the interim AD and the interim coach?

How exactly does one "tab" himself?

This reminds me of Dick Cheney heading the VP Search Committee...and nominating himself.
