I know what you are saying which is why I think the coach is a done deal and will be announced the first week of December. I have heard who it is and if it comes through then I will be happy with the hire as long as this coach brings along a great defensive coordinator.

I'm not a bandwagon fan. I pay for the privilege and mortgage my financial future. Out of state tuition is a mf'r. It probably means I'll have to do my MBA in Fayetteville. I'm not paying a premium to learn shite I already know from working for myself.

Just say who/what you're hearing. we don't give a shite if its wrong or not, we're all just interested in what's possibly leaked so then we can compare and decipher if it's junk or if there's some veracity to it.

Hawgeye and me are in agreement as far as who I heard it was. Long in order to get his BOT endorsement has someone hired who wanted a commitment to J Long before he signed. If it is them then look for an announcement the first week of December.

If we do not have a coach by the 2nd week of December then Long lied to us and we are screwed but he is too smart for that. This was worked out months ago.

Gundy squashed the rumors with a recruit today according to the kid's father FWIW.

Yes because he would tell the kid if he was.

I agree somewhat but when you kill it and promise you are going to be in the same job next yr to all these kids you're burning a lot of bridges with high school coaches in texas if you are 3 weeks away from announcing your departure.

Look I'll definitely come back and own it if Gundy leaves, i've definitely been calling it BS for the start. I expect everybody and their sources to do the same if he doesn't.

The reason why he is talking to Long about it is because of his bad relationships with his current AD and I also heard he does not get along with T. Boone. Jerry watches over our program but nothing like T. Boone.

He does have a lot of ties to OSU, I am not stating my opinion but who I heard was coming. I would be happy with Gundy but it is a long shot at best.

Lots of stories break to gauge interest on either parties before they actually talk. So, when we moved on from Patterson to Gundy that assured he was out. Either way nothing will come of it until after the first week of December. If we do not have a coach after the first week of December then we missed out on all the tier 1s and will end up with an up and comer.

Yeah there is no doubt that there is friction between holder and tboone. This was the first year that T boone didn't host a preseason event for the staff at his ranch and the AD.

As it relates to the timing of Long's raise and extension, do you not think that bodes well for a hire we'll be happy with? I mean, it would seem frickng CRAZY to me that he would receive a raise and extension right before the biggest hire in school history - IF no one had already seen where we'd at least gotten someone to agree in principle to become our next head coach?

If we gave him a raise and then he proceeded to completely botch this hire Gearhardt would have some serious questions to answer. I just think that whoever made the decision to lock Long up for a while and increase his compensation has seen/heard in person that we've hit a homerun and that the school/fans/players will be very happy with the news.

It just doesn't make sense any other way...

If Gundy is talking, I think he really wants to leave. This isn't the standard Sexton deal where he is trying to pump Holder and T. Boone for more money. I honestly think T. Boone would tell Gundy to go frick himself if he came to them and asked them to match an Arkansas offer.

I've thought for a good while that Gundy was the man.

no coach in the hisotry of coaching searches has ever told a recruit that he was recruiting that he was going to leave

in fact if he did, he could be sued once he left. you can't recruit for another school or negative recruit your own school
