Everyone on the Rant thinks he is a blubbering buffoon who can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag, but Michigan wants him? What gives? Surely being an alum of Michigan alone doesn't make him a prime candidate....

He is a Michigan man who surrounds himself with great assistants. He is a good coach who knows how to win.

at this time last year, I would've agreed with this statement. But I think Miles has won alot of people (on the rant) over since then. I think the fact that he won the SEC makes him a prime coaching candidate for almost any team outside of the SEC

Actually from everything that I've read Michigan (the AD at least) didn't want Miles at all. Certainly didn't want him enough to return Miles' calls on Dec 1.

I doubt if Michigan fans have kept up with his mental lapses on the sidelines. I wonder how many Michigan games tiger fans have analyzed the last three years? Withe the talent on the sidelines the last three years even Larry Coker would have looked good.

"bullshite" whines 'TigerDeacon' ignoring the obvious fact that the Michigan AD DID NOT return Miles calls (per his agent) on Dec 1.

Could be the reason Michigan went sailing and didn't return calls.

The obvious answer here is they did not want Les...that is pretty much fact as I sit and view it. They offered the job to Schiano without asking for permission, and yet they asked permission to speak with Les and never did (until after he had announced he was staying at LSU).

They went after Ferentz, then Schiano, and then called Les many days later after he had announced he was staying - and as the UM guy above says, they didn't even return his phone call as he tried to find out what his status was with the coaching search.

Really, to be honest, Les chose LSU because UM had him down on their list. Les even made reference to that in his PC many times by saying he was "wanted here".

I like him, but for I am also a little suprised at his "great coach" status since he has decided to stay. What has he done to deserve this yet. Guess what, when you buy a Corvette it goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds straight out off assembly, but how it corners is up to the driver. In my opinion, we have under performed every year of his tenure. My opinion only.

in my opinion people have overrated our talent the last 3 years...if he wins the NC this year, we'll be ahead of the curve because the simple fact is it is not easy to win the SEC or the MNC and no other coach in the country would have won 3 SECCs (or even 2) with our teams the last 3 years
