The thing is he almost came to UGA last time, but decided to stay obviously. Only now the situation is 1000x better.

- the program isn't as shaky
- Richt is 4 years closer to retirement
- the talent is in place for the 3-4
- this could be his only chance at ever getting the UGA HC job

Well he's been in Tuscaloosa almost twice as long as he was in Athens.

It's still his and his wife's alma mater. It's definitely not a lock to happen, but people who dismiss the possibility need to rethink it.

Alma mater > anywhere you coach.

Obviously there's other factors to consider but if all things were even no question he would take the UGA job.

Plus, things are getting weird in T-Town. Lot of staff shake-ups.

This is of course only going to happen if Mason takes the Vandy job and Kirby is still in play. Otherwise, take the Vandy job until Richt retires, you dumb fool!

I don't think he will come to UGA.. it is a lateral move at best. Don't overestimate the alumni factor. It would be great but I just don't see it happening.

It would open up the DC spot for Ed O, and ESPN might be willing to pitch in for some of the salary incentives to make it happen.

Can you imagine seeing one day of ESPN coverage that didn't include Saban, Kiffin, and Orgeron?

Not gonna happen.

Bama 247 is saying its a very strong possibility. UGA willing to give him Head Coach in Waiting and rumors are that Richt will only coach for one or two more years. They expect Smart to give it a hard look.

At least 2 mil a year if he goes. That is what UGA is offering him right now.

Richt would be much easier to work with than Saban would.
