What a tool. Hope we lose you as a fan forever. Go bandwagon on someone else's team.

Is this a joke?

Its not like I'd quit being a fan if we sucked. I was in the stadium for every Curly Hallman home game.

So what's the next step in your plan to "demand excellence"?

No clue honestly.

What is the redzone defense based on? Is it TD% or just scoring%?

I don't know. Got stats from NCAA.com. I bet someone on here probably knows. Lots of stat junkies on TD.

I would like to know who his position coaches were at Clemson during his time there and were they any good.

Charlie Harbison was DB Coach, Dan Brooks was DL coach, he's still with Clemson

I can see the improvement in play already, due to your most excellent critique of this hire.

Or watch the games right? I was watching the Mississippi State game this year with 7 five star recruits on an unofficial visit and the entire first half all they could say was how bad our fanbase was and that if Les just had a little support that this offense would look like Oregon's. I was ashamed at how terrible our fanbase was on offense in the first half...

when you throw stats out there it ruins the pumpers argument of him only having 1 bad year

Huh? Those stats actually show he only had one (really) bad year out of three at Clemson.

Was this directed at me?

I like Les Miles as our head coach. Never said I wanted him fired. He made Cam and Chavis hires and recruits well and is a good man.

I still don't want him fired. It is possible to like the head coach and be completely dissatisfied with the DC hire. Steele's resume should have been laughed out of the interview room.

I posted stats and you guys are unhappy about it. I get it.

But I didn't twist stats for an agenda. They are just numbers and facts. Some are good, some are mediocre, some are bad. I posted them for the digestion of the board.

In your opinion,

How good of coach is Harbison? Did y'all get rid of him when you got rid of Steele? Or did he leave to take another job?

Apparently, Dan Brooks is a pretty good coach to still be there.

Clearly we all only exist on the internet.

And clearly I meant just me by saying "as a fanbase".

You guys are focusing on that post and deflecting away from the statistics in the OP. Lets discuss the performance of his defenses at Clemson.

If anyone has time, I'd love to see a yards and points per minute stat. We keep hearing about LSU's TOP offense helping out a defense. I'm wondering if it can be seen in the stats.

I'd say your TOP offense is a bit overstated. Here are your TOP rankings throughout the Chavis era:

2009 - 107th
2010 - 57th
2011 - 26th
2012 - 46th
2013 - 57th
2014 - 9th

Overall you've been a middle of the pack TOP team, and one can argue you owe a large measure of what success you've had to Chavis's defenses getting off the field, rather than LSU's offenses keeping the ball. For example, In 2009, when you were 107th in TOP, Chavis's defense finished 26th in total defense, and 11th in scoring defense. In the best year for the defense, 2011, LSU's offense was 50th in rushing yards, and 60th in 3rd down conversion %. Even this year, you were 23rd in rushing offense, but 69th in 3rd down conversion %. Despite fluctuating TOP rankings, Chavis's defenses have consistently performed, and performed significantly better than would be suggested merely by looking at TOP.

At the end of the day, a TOP offense will HELP a defense, but it can't SUBSTITUTE for a defense. A defense will ultimately stand or fall on it's own merits.

This i strue, and I appreciate it. I think some are over reacting to this hire. It's Les's $5M salary on the line. If he didn't have better information that just those stats upon which to base this decision than I feel sorry for him, us and all of Tiger Nation.

There is ALWAYS more to the story than is available to the public. Relax, it will help you in the long run.

And A&M is back of the pack team.

Our best defensive year we had 26th TOP and that is very good. This past year we had severe weaknesses on defense in the middle and our TOP helped them out a ton.

It is overstated, but it is still a strong factor. Especially if you don't have crazy depth on defense like LSU has had most years.
