they want to play for UM, the tradition... and they trust the coach to be hired will be good...

they're not waiting for Les Miles to swing into town and swing their dicks... they're going on tradition.... same way at ND where even though they have a HORRIFIC Coach and the worst possible year, they have the #1 recruit class in the nation at the moment.

They knew Carr was going to retire sooner or later and Carr was honest about that. They are coming because its a great university (like LSU) to be a part of, play sports at, and earn a degree from. They might lose a few but there will be others to step right in.

I'm not saying they are waiting for LM.....just seems odd, I understand wanting to play at UofM, but the uncertainty of no knowing who the coach is and if your style will fit with there offense and such....and if the new coach doesn't keep the OC and DC that are recruiting them, do they follow those coordinators where they go? just wondering

I don't.

I see where "real" is skipping English class again. And making the same idiotic comments.

"real" REALLY needs to stay in class more; his spelling needs a great deal of work! At least he thinks he can predict the future.

Les Miles has already said he would be LSU's coach "next season". I choose to take the man at his word. You'd think all REAL LSU fans would do the same.

I think people commit to Michigan, the institution, and not the coach who will be there next season.

It's freakin Michigan! It doesn't matter who coaches those slow footed clods, they're going to do the same thing almost every year: Get hype from guys older than Red Grange, bore us to tears, and more often than not, lose to Ohio state or appy state maybe, and finish around 15 and go to some crap bowl.
I could get drunk, dress up in a Lloyd Carr costume and do just about as good as he did.

you are most likely more in the know than me, but i was under the impression that this was one of the hold ups. Carr got them both extensions w/ full buyouts and most new coaches want to bring in their own, and now UM is almost locked in to them.

Michigan is one of those schools that people go to just because it is Michigan. A lot of kids would go to Michigan if Mickey Mouse was the coach.

people knew that carr was leaving after the app. state game and some even before then. They committed to Michigan knowing this, so why would they decommit?

They aren't slow until they go through our S&C program. I'd like to note that is the biggest problem with the program. Only two schools in the NCAA still use High Intensity Training (HIT). Michigan and Penn State. Both schools have been wastes of talent since the mid 90s when S&C shifted to explosive free weights and such.

That said, all the recruits knew that a new head coach was likely. Besides, if you were willing to commit to Lloyd Carr, bad facilities (being upgraded now), and a bad S&C, what could possibly make you change your mind?

I love that attitude. Commit to a school not a coach. If you're good enough, you'll prove yourself and get the time on the field.

What kid wouldn't be excited about the tradition and academics offered at Michigan?
