Just had lunch with one of the founders of Rivals in Brentwood who knows Kragthorpe very well.

He says an excellent hire and that fans better get used to four wideouts, TE and one RB because that is what he runs....lots of deception and lots of wide open receivers. His philosophy is to run everything your do from about 5 or 6 bases.

This really made me feel better about the hire.

I'm cool with that. Ware will dominate the single back sets IMO.

Yep... this is a simplification hire of sorts.

It's about restoring an identity on offense.

Something we obviously havent had the last few years on O.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the hire it will be very very hard to do any worse than where we have been of late.

For those that think JJ is a lock to start the whole year. I doubt seriously he will unless he shows a vast amount of improvement.

i hate 4 wideouts. it's a gimmick and takes away the power running game unless you've got a tebow or cameron in the backfield at qb.

hell, a tight end is a receiver. use 3 wideouts and a tight end with a single tailback, or tight end, tailback, split back(or fullback) and 2 wide outs.

miles likes the power running game. i thought that was what we were getting in kragthorpe.

i was more excited about Fuente because
TCU runs a power offense with good passing.

Continuing to bring in great talent and putting them in a simple offense like this, where they can put their talent on display without over-thinking should get us a top 50 offense.

A top 50 offense + a top 20 defense = competing for SEC and Nat'l championships.

I'd love 4 wideouts because we have serious talent at wr. Also, spreads the defense out and can really run against that. Plus, I'm not overly impressed with our FB position lately. Seems like we would have the most talent on the field at the same time.

He doesn't

But that doesn't mean miles won't

Fwiw, I don't have a problem with the option if it's executed right and called to the wide side.

Thank God. I cringed when I would see 3 or 4 substitutions after every play the last couple years.

So we should get used to flags for too many men on the field?

Not me. I expect him to excel. But, I'll certainly withhold judgment until there is a product to judge.

I think Krags = MacElwain. I'll take that

I could see where someone might be "lukewarm" with this hire, but there is absolutely no legitimate reason to be "incredibly disappointed" with the hire of Steve Kragthorpe. It fits in many ways. Certainly not a sexy hire, but not even close to a disappointing hire.

Does anyone know what his style actually is? I've seen it written here that it was spread and that it would be Crowton 2.0. Then someone else says pro-style. The OP suggests a spread attack. These are just titles for a particular philosophy, but would like a better idea. Which is it?

It will be limited if it's there. And he sure as shite won't call it with Lee or Mett in the game like Capt. Dipshit did.

In his defense, Capt. Dipshit never called an option with Mett in the game.

No qb or 4 o-linemen. It's gotta work.
