Do you frick tards realize how long it takes to negotiate million dollar plus contracts? It doesn't happen overnight. Saban is recruiting like a mad man right now. The contract extension can wait... It's guaranteed. Let Texas bring a bigger offer... Saban will let BAMA counter offer and he'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
God some of you bammers are so mad and so dumb.

Everything he said was true. You look really dumb, actually.

If your boss laid a raise and extension on your desk, and you had another company offering more, would you immediately sign it? Not unless you are an idiot. You would leave it sitting there until your boss matched or came close to matching what the other company is offering. Saban knows what he is worth, so does Bama. Saban will give the silent treatment until Bama gives what he is worth.

It's called the science of bidness
Seriously though...I review large contracts in my field of work and it is a very lengthy process.

How are you not banned for your earlier shenanigans? (Telling another poster to kill himself)
And I love how you sidewalk bammers know "he's recruiting like a mad man!"

The silence is called leveraging one job into a boat load of money for the current job.
So why is there a need to leverage if there is no other offer out there? That's all I'm saying. Some people are saying he would never leave Bama, this is a clown show, texas has not contacted anyone etc etc, if that were the case, why does Bama feel the need to give him more money, contract ext? Did loosing the Iron bowl justify that? I'm just saying there is something going on behind the scenes and there has to be some truth to the rumors out there.

Your "knowledge" of his recruiting efforts is what makes me chuckle.

I've been wondering the exact same thing. It's been on his desk, for all practical purposes, a week now.
It's a couple sheets of paper. He can bring it with him while he's out "recruiting." Sign it on the plane.
If he wanted to sign it, he'd sign it.

It's been documented that Sexton has spoke to the UT admin. That's the beauty of agents, Nick can coach and Jimmy can talk to other schools. Sexton knows an offer is coming and once it's official, the number on Nicks extension will be doubled. Then he'll sign it. Rather simple.

I graduated in 2010 from the culverhouse school of accounting at BAMA. I'm not a sidewalk fan.
You all are acting like Saban's extension is a few pieces of notebook paper with crayon scribbled on it... and it's ok because I can tell that you all don't know business

you don't need to sign a contract with pen/paper.. christ it's 2013
you can fax it in, and that is 25+ year old technology.

Contract signing is part of the process but a much lower priority than recruiting and bowl preparation.

If I was totally committed and decided I would never ever Leave (as most gumps say of Saban) and there wasn't another offer out there (once again something the Bama fans are swearing) I would and say thanks for the raise and sign it
Once again, the common consensus of gump nation is there is no offer and he would never leave Bama. His wife says they aren't going anywhere
And so does Texas. If it comes down to Money, Texas will beat you hands down and get to where Bama can't compete in the finance dept. no way Bama goes 10+ a year and I think Texas is just desperate enough to do it. Take into consideration the rumor of paying off debt, which by the way has some hard facts backing it up that it has been done, Bama won't compete.
It's either there or it's not. There are alot of Bama fans out there that have there head in the sand (no accusing you of being one) but a lot do and refuse to admit or see that there is actually something going on with this. The deciding factor is how desperate UT is to get back to winning and what they are willing to pay for Saban to make that happen.

Are you implying that he hasn't been recruiting for the last several days? Lemme guess. He's been flying around meeting with Texas people, right? Don't say asinine things, and nobody will comment on it. "You gumps are so dumb and mad" is not a very smart retort to someone who brings up a legit point about contracts, etc. Enjoy your evening.

Because he is on the road recruiting lights out before the quiet period? Make sense or does it need to be dumbed down further?
So why the contract extension now?
The season isn't over...but why now? why the urgency? Why are Bama folks a little nervous he hasn't signed it yet?
Why is Mrs. Saban in Austin looking at property?
I mean, yes you need to dumb it down so you can process the likelihood he is leaving...
If Big Alabama boosters are saying a deal went down a month ago, well, I'd say it might have happened based on the amount of smoke that is brewing over a bunch of internet rumor.

You been riding with him while he is "recruiting like a mad man!"? In sure you have, you bammers are so vital to the program.

He sure will be laughing at Bama...all the way to the bank. If he really felt any passion for the school, fanbase, town etc.... Why would he put you guys through this? After all, didn't you just give him a raise less than a year ago?
He's doing what's best for him. Nothing wrong with that. If the UT job was open back when he left Miami, he probably would have gone to the highest bidder back then. This is karma for the way that many of you Gumps have acted over the past 5 years. It's been a great run but most people hate Bama for it due to the behavior of your fanbase. Have some class when your team is on top and maybe people wouldn't hate you so much.

If you are being paid 467000 per month, I'd imagine it would be a real good idea to keep working until the deal was finalized...
