I wasn't joking earlier when I posted that everyone would be scratching their heads if we hired Smart and Saban promoted Steele to DC. Les just gut punched Saban. I'm not excited about the hire, but there is more to this than meets the eye. Les searched for the right hire and after interviewing a lot of people he went back to his gut instinct and hired Steele.
Some people here will never believe this, maybe if Hanny reports it tomorrow on 104.5 they might.

If Saban wanted Steele at DC he would have done it without hesitation. He wouldn't set his process aside to wait and find Smart a job first. He's 100% business.
