that Miles would actually be stupid enough to keep Crowton on this staff for another year? I mean, does he have to finish DEAD last in total offense in the country to lose his job? Is this simple loyalty or perhaps hubris that compels such a terrible decision.

i think it has to do with money and respect for his initial success. he's gone after next year if this O doesn't vastly improve.

Miles, playing with fire...taking a gamble instead of making the smart safe decision, pretty typical I guess.

When has Miles fired anyone? Even McCarthy resigned, though I am sure it was mutual. Peveto/Mallory were not fired.

When Crowton gets another job, he is gone. Until then he is at LSU

So if LSU says that are not paying his buyout, then what?

If I were Miles, I'd offer to help pay it, now it might be too much to handle, but I'm thinking it can't be that much. He should offer to pay half of it with TAF.

Nah, Miles can't cover it. He's been sending money back to all the pissed of ticket holders.

End sarcasm

If TAF is refusing to pay Crowton's buyout then they are intentionally setting Miles up for failure.

Perhaps he knows something we do not. Perhaps he believes Crowton will be successful and there are other reasons for the poor performance.

I'm not suggesting I know what that is or that I am a supporter of the idea. I simply acknowledge that "we" don't know nearly as much as "we" think we do. As far as i know, none of us has been a HC or OC at a major FBS school. I am not so full of myself as to assume that if Miles (or Crowton) and I don't see things the same way the only explanation is that the COACH must be the "stupid" one.

As Jim Mora once said:

'You think you know. But, you don't know. And, you never will.'

He thinks Crowton can turn the offense around and get them from 107th to at least 106.

Keep a coach that has 4-5 star talent and finsished behind La. Tech, ULL, and Vanderbilt in total offense. Makes sense to me!

To Memphis fan....Can you believe that Porter is hiring high school coaches for his staff....and he has no HC experience???? Doom for Memphis. NTx tried that and failed.

Why? His actions indicate otherwise. Despite everyone on here being so enamored with his coaching hires, let's review:

-never fires anyone, allows mediocre staff and coaches who are damaging the program to remain on staff throughout the year and even through the bowl game, so they can get "their bonus". Bonus for what? For sucking?
- Malveto experiment, enough said.
-Crowton and Studrawa, both fails and are coasting through their 2nd and 3rd years of service after the NC
-McCarthy not fired, even after breaking the rules
-pulling the trigger too quickly on a WR coach- Gonzales
- trying to Band-Aid the horrible Crowton situation by making Gonzales some kind of honorary co-OC (passing coordinator), which we know by history is a fail.

i'm pretty sure i'm not the coach, and i don't know all the facts, and i also know that my opinions and speculation as to what should/will happen is important to you. having said that, the sky is falling, all the coaches should be fired, and lsu will never win a game again. have a great day.

he's getting another year, it seems. relax, he's much better than you think. '09 was bad, but still 9-3. a lot of things are in play here, like contract buy out costs, etc. nature of the business. with JJ improving and hopefully, our team blocking, i think crowton has a chance to turn it around. if not, there is no way miles keeps him.

And if GC has another horrible year, Miles will simply release him? And is Miles' job still so secure at that point?
