How much money would it take to land Sean Payton or Nick Saban?

I know Saban doesn't have a buyout clause in his contract, but does Sean Payton have a buyout clause in his?
I know that both coaches seem pretty damn content in their respective roles as head coach, but if the richest professional sports franchise in the world came calling with a blank checkbook, what would it take for people to say, "you have to take that deal"?

Sean is the highest paid coach in the world right now. It would take a lot. Not happening

Twenty million per year and either one is yours, anywhere in the continental United States.

False. In the US? Yes.

yeah, I know, but a five year deal worth $38MM or whatever its worth...How much would you invest in a non-salary-capped position if you owned a multi-billion dollar business which was not returning your investments with championships?
I'm thinking the richest team should shell out $15-20MM/year to get two of the best offensive and defensive minds and put them together...just because they actually do have the ability to do just that.

I have to think that winning is as important as making money to the richest team in the world. I just can't believe that they have not paid someone the most money in the world to coach and develop their team into greatness.

Sean ain't going to Texas for a little more money to coach college kids, that whole idea sounds terrible plus he isn't in Saban debt.

Oh, you're asking how much it would take to put them both on the same college or pro staff together? I thought you were asking how much it would take to make sure you got either one as head coach.
That would cost a little more because they're assuming a lot of risk of the enterprise imploded and making them look like really stupid mercenaries.

not exactly, but that would be interesting. I'm saying that if the Dallas Cowboys said, "we're going to hire the best in the world to be our coach!" I bet $15MM a year would get it done.

Why would they need to do this? All hiring a great coach does is better your chances. It doesn't guarantee anything.

It probably would but that coach still needs the players. And then needs a ton of luck.
Tom Coughlin has two rings to Payton's one and we all know that Payton is the better coach. But Tom's team just had the fortune to get hot at the right time, twice.
I think Saban is hands down the best college coach in the game but his vaunted "Process" means nothing if his kicker can't make field goals.

by hiring a proven great coach, you are buying someone who has produced results on the field. you aren't guaranteed victories, but you are hiring someone who will focus fully on your success.
Bill Belichick lives and breathes football...he is a Bill Parcells disciple who will do whatever he has to do to win. Who is the greatest football coach in both college and professional football?

Ain't that the damn truth! If Bama just had a reliable kicker, they would have lost exactly ONE game since the 2010 Iron Bowl and be playing for three in a row

Link to where Saban is in debt?

They're both happy where they are, they aren't going into that political bottomless pit that UT is right now.

That's the problem with you arrogant fricks. Having lots of money is not a bad thing. It's how you present yourself. If you walk into a party well appropriated and obviously loaded, you'll attract women like flies. However, it you walk up to one and ask them "How much would it cost to take you home tonight?" you'll end up with a drink in your face. If they overhear you insecurely bragging to the waiter how loaded you are, similar result. Clean up your program, get everyone on the same page, talk nice and you'll get better results. You may even be able to save a little bit of that non-Vatican money in the process.

Not money, I'm sure that both have turned down or walked away (Dolphins) from larger sums of money. For Saban it has to be a place he can succeed that is willing to give him free reign and control.
