I know you have the stickied topic at the top regarding Miles to Michigan talk.
My thread is more about Les Miles the coach.
I've tried to watch as much LSU football the last 2 years, fully knowing that he was the most likely replacement of Lloyd Carr.
I'll tell you straight up, i've never thought of him as a good coach. So I come to you with some help.
Is Les Miles a good coach or more a product of the talent at LSU?
Also, does LSU's large sum of penalties have to do with lack of discipline from Coach Miles? Or is it more SEC refs picking on the big boys?
From the games i've seen, Les has made some questionable decisions. Sure, he's gambled and gotten some key 4th down conversions but, some of those games never should have come down to that.
For instance, in the VT game, the Hokies wanted nothing to do with Keiland Williams. After that dominating game, he rarely saw any carries in the next few games. Why is that?
In the Kentucky game, Scott was ripping the Cats apart in the 1st half. He rarely saw the field the rest of the way. Why?
I hope I haven't offended any of you guys with these questions. I'm just curious. I wish you guys the best of luck. I hope this isn't a distraction in your march to a national title. Whether you keep Les, or he comes to Michigan, I will continue to cheer you guys on!
P.S: I hope Ohio State sneaks into the title game. I'd love to see another SEC team beat the living crap out of sweatervest Bucks. Sure they look tough beating up on my team but, they wouldn't stand a chance against you guys.
Geaux Tigers!

You don't go 32-5 if you're not a good coach

No he's a terrible coach - don't let anyone tell you any different!

He's our coach and you can't have him, piss off.

he's a big time gambler and he's on a roll right now, he should go to UM and leave while he's ahead. He's not a control freak and a good delegator, his success will be determined by what coordinators he can bring in,

He sucks really bad. Now go tell all the Michigan Boosters and AD.

Is he a good coach? You people are fricking stupid. Go back to your board

I think Miles is a great CEO coach, Wolverine. He hires great coordinators and lets them coach. I have been troubled by the penalties and some of the depth chart questions you posed and I don't have an answer to that. I think he is a quality guy who has handled some discipline issues very well in the offseason.

why should we help you? go back to the cow pastures and leave us alone. we have a MNC to win. Shouldn't you be getting ready for the independence bowl?

Yes Les is a good coach and y'all would be lucky to get him.

Isn't this a little like asking:
"Hey, I heard your wife might be leaving you soon! I just wanted to know, is she a good frick?"

I agree completely Wolverine. Sorry about this. Geez, say one frickin' negative thing on here.

Why all the jerk answers. He is asking legit questions, the same ones I have seen on here.
Is Miles a good coach, yes. Great maybe. I think he is more suited for the Big 10 than SEC. If he stays here he will do well. If he goes to Michigan he will do well. He is in a tough situation.

You didn't. Welcome to the Wild West of college football message boards!

Sorry these guys are busting your balls Miles is good when he has a lot of talent on his team. I think he would do really well at UM, because he has seen what SEC speed will do up there and will recruit accordingly. His strong point is hiring assistants and selling the program IMO. I'd rather not point out any cons for obvious reasons.
