He can't find a good candidate that would take the job with no say so of who his assistants will be? It seems like CLM is trying to find the best guy who will go along with having Brick and Raymond as his assistants with no questions asked, because their his friends. I'm sure most big named DC's would want to choose their own assistants and its just not in the cards at LSU being Chavis basically played us by sticking around long enough for his guys to get their contracts extended and then bolting. That's why IMO Brick probably will get promoted. If I was a big time DC, I'd want to choose my own assistants or at least have the peace of mind that I have say so in it.

Blame Alleva, those contracts should not have been signed before the DC contract was signed.

I don't think he's having difficulty. He's conducting interviews. No need to rush the process and get the wrong guy.

In some bizarre world where having to make perhaps the most important hire in ones career in under a week? Yes. Yes he is.
Did you not realize that LSU doesn't hire assistants? LSU selects them. :-)

I don't know. That's pretty much what I'm asking. Although, I do think its probably something that these candidates would have a problem with. Pendergast for instance. Maybe, Les didn't want to or wasn't allowed to ditch Brick or Raymond or both.

Faulty premise. I don't think he is "having difficulty". The actual news sources I've seen indicate just the opposite. The Advocate article on Shoop indicated that there was "no shortage of candidates" and Moscona yesterday said that LSU, Miles and his agent fielded a lot of inquires for the job.

I think taking your time and doing it right is not the same thing as "having difficulty".

It has a lot more to do with Haley and Raymond being good coaches than being Les' friends.

Difficulty is the wrong term dumbass. Thorough is the term to use.

DC's don't typically bring a ton of guys with them like HCs do. Obviously there are exceptions, but I think Muschamp has only gotten one guy fired so far at AU. It's just slim pickings this late in the cycle, and Miles knows this is a huge hire. Haley did all Chavis's recruiting, so we aren't hurting like we could be there. I'd rather get the right guy in two weeks than the wrong one today.

There really should be no shortage of candidates. There is only one DC in the country that wouldn't be walkinging into more money, more talent, or both by getting the LSU job. Assuming the $1.3 million Chavis was making is on the table.

Shoop will need a right hand man on the recruiting front.

This would be Brick. Unless he bailed or gets bought out.

Miles took his sweet arse time hiring Grimes

How about a defensive coordinator?

It's only the most important hire in years.
