100% positive that I'm 90% sure that Saban runs that Bama D....Smart just takes up space on the sideline according to most of the TD coaching experts lmao

So because Muschamp proved to be a good DC then Smart will prove to be a good DC?

Hard to say. If Coach O doesn't come aboard I am still bummed out. Ask Brick to leave and hire O. Then rock solid on D.

Coach on the field = upgrade

Not just that reason, but I'd like to see LSU with a DC on the field.

You can't give smart none of the credit for their defense skill in the past. I think Bama still recruited well but didn't recruit to keep up with the adjustment in the nation.

But Smart is a great hire.

I just don't believe Smart would come to LSU for the DC position

Though he does seem to want the Jawja Head job which doesn't seem to be available for another 2 years at least.

I think his agent is using it to play hammer and get him another raise

So the Oklahoma, A&M (Manziel), Auburn, and Ohio St. games were Saban's fault, then?

Chief was good but past his prime. His legend was larger than his actual present. "3rd and Chavis" was real and so was his game-ending soft/prevent defenses that couldn't hold onto a small lead for LSU in crucial match ups.

Why do you assume that because Muschamp proved to be a good DC that Smart will be a good DC?

Muschamp and Smart are not the same person.

Steele was once DC under Saban too, remember?

There seems to be a logical assumption that because Muschamp turned out to be a good DC therefore that Smart will also be a good DC.

My contention is we did not know for sure about Muschamp until he was a DC without Saban. Likewise, we will not know for sure about Smart until he is a DC without Saban. He may turn out to be a very good DC. But to assume that he will be a good DC simply because Muschamp turned out to be a good DC is highly presumptuous.

I don't believe that Bama's defensive success is all Saban. If that was the case, then Bama wouldn't be paying him 1.35m. They know he is talented or he wouldn't be one of the highest paid DCs in football.

Good point....may be why Smart is interested. I see Saban as a tough boss to work for

Recruiting upgrade for sure. As far as defense? Upgrades in some areas, not so much in others. I think the reason why he would fit perfectly for us is because by far our biggest need on defense is pressuring the QB. I honestly believe we have the talent in the secondary to just leave them out on an island and send the house. Alabama has the best blitzing schemes of any team we play. They consistently get pressure up the middle

Working for Saban and then working for Miles would be like working for the IRS and going to Google.

Why's it silly? Nothing he said was silly. You don't have a clue and nobody else does either because he hasn't shown it. He's 100% right the hire is a risk.
