Pelini would be damn good on the SEC. Nebraska? Meh.

The OP didn't say Tenn. WANTED Pelini, only that he seemed willing to go there...
That's more than half way for the Vols to get a new head coach nowadays.

He supposedly contacted UT about the job.

At least that lowers his price.

As a Nebraska fan, PLEASE take him. Don't believe the "defensive genius" hype.

Pelini just doesn't have the "management" skills to be leading a Top10 program IMO.

He's a good motivator, and that's about all that he's got going for him. He's not good with the media, not good with the fans, not good at recruiting, and even his defense (which is supposed to be his specialty) is sometimes questionable.

Defensive "guru" that got 70 hung on him by our new coach last week. Perfect fit for Tenner.

Look at where he was a defensive genius -- Oklahoma, LSU -- heck I could be a defensive genius with the talent they had. He is not a good recruiter, and with his own talent, he sucks.

It doesn't seem as if they can.

They have been trying to do better since they pushed Fulmer out the door in 08.

Tennessee is now a tough sell to coaches and high school players.

LSU fans will say every coach sucks, FWIW.

The co-coordinators say hi.

Different Tiger fan, but we played his Nebraska teams. I'd echo what others have said: good DC, not great as a HC. He's not especially well-liked in Nebraska, partly because of his abrasive personality. Not sure how he gets on with players either. He's a hothead, and so is his brother Carl.

You could do worse, but you could definitely do better too.

Tuberville, Petrino ... much better options. A team that gives up 70 points in a conference championship game is a team that has quit on their head coach.

There are 4 million reasons why BP wants to coach at UT. Plus Nebraska is miserable, the whole state.

6 years after McFadden & Jones completely confused & destroyed Pelini's LSU defense with the Wildcat offense, Wisconsin ran a much simpler version last weekend and simply destroyed Nebraska.
Not very encouraging. I would think UT could do better.

Bingo. He would not be worth that much money. No way, no how.

Tubberville really is the correct choice at this point. Not some Big East coach c'mon man!!
I liked Pelini at LSU I liked his fire but he never had a nuclear meltdown the way he did a few years ago, it was so monumental I lost respect for him, I am also not into people who hire family. Get ready for The Brothers Pelini Psychosis Show if he is hired.
I think he is so intense and rides his guys so hard that they just cannot keep up the mental energy and give in at some point. Like their total arse kicking by a shotty Wisky team
Pelini did have great blitz packages at LSU loved him for that and always aggressive on D
