Is this series as good as I keep hearing? I'm currently on The First Law trilogy by Abercrombie but already looking ahead to my next fantasy series. I've read several Sanderson books in the past, but somehow skipped over this.

For readers of the series, worth it?

Totally worth it. Two books out, both great, and the third is due at the end of the year. Dive on in.

Say one thing for Logan Ninefingers, say he's read the Stormlight Archive...

Put it this way...these are the first two 1,000 page books I've re-read.

Book 1 was pretty slow but the ending is probably the best I've read. I'd give it a shot if you can stick with it. Book 2 is moving much faster now that a lot of the world building is out of the way.

I really liked the first book. The second is next on my reading list.

There's so much going on, and I can't wait to see how these different storylines tie together.

Bought the first at the recommendation of some on here 2 weeks ago.

Finished it yesterday and am already cruising into the 2nd. It's fast paced and enjoyable reading, with enough twists to where you aren't 100% where it's going, which is part of the fun

So with only 3/10 planned books out by the end of the year, when are these things supposed to be finished?

I think book 4 is set for 2020? (rough estimate) and he plans on taking a longer break after book 5. So it'll be a long arse time

This is one of those things that can fall victim to overhype. There are a ton of people who love the books (me included) but you shouldn't go into it expecting it to be the best thing you've ever read. That leads to let downs.

It is definitely worth looking into if you're a fan of fantasy novels though

He was overly optimistic a few years ago and said he planned to have one out every other year. He has now said that's impossible but doesn't want to have long stretches without a book in the series coming out. So his goal is probably one every four years.

Yeah, and I believe the first group of five will be sort of self-contained with the second group of five taking place at a somewhat later time period.

And, of course, the larger Cosmere, as a whole, will have books coming out during those breaks between Stormlight books.

Sanderson writes books pretty quickly. He seems to be the Anti-GRRM. He bounces around between his multiple series.

Props to those of yal who can do this, but I just don't understand how people read series with this many books. It just seems like such an insane task to me.

Some series just hook you right away, first book. When that happens, usually the more books the better.

Is it the number of books that gets you or is it the fact that the series is still (and quite early) in the process of being written?
