I am a big fan and he is in my must read immediately group of authors but this book was not particularly good. It was just a slow -moving travel book about Cuba...I was skipping paragraphs of Cuban fluff midway through the book...I was very disappointed.

I'm a huge DeMille fan as well and I can't argue with you at all. I was just waiting for that LOL moment and it didn't happen.

He is on my list of authors to read. Can you rate his best books?

Honestly, I would read them all...he doesn't have any misses and some are spectacular...this is probably his worst effort...

Oops. I read The Charm School and loved it. Think I will start w/ Plum Island. The plot to Gold Coast doesn't appear to be compelling.

Start with plum island. If you like it read the Corey series. It's decent. Some people say then end of night fall - the third book - is a cop out. I tend to agree.

And the generals daughter was pretty good.

The Gold Coast is excellent, the follow up to it, The Gate House, is ok but not one of my favorites. I enjoy all of his books, except Cathedral, never could get into that one and I haven’t read the Cuban affair yet. Plum island is a good one to start with, it’s the first in the Corey series and was the first Demille book l ever read.

Charm School is solid. Of course anything with a Trans Am rolling through Russia gets an automatic thumbs up with me.

Up Country also solid... no Trans Am, but still a good read.
