Might have to check that out, though I assume Sean Bean dies a third of the way through.

Equilibrium
Really good movie that has some great fight scenes.

It was overshadowed by The Matrix, but I feel it is as good of a movie.

Well, you know Sean Bean. He does enjoy dying.

What was the final verdict on Dark Sister possibly being in Baelish's tapestry? Yay, nay?

So does everyone believe the other god / red god is a separate war from the westeros war? No tie ins at all?

Yeah, Equilibrium is good fun as long as you can suspend disbelief a bit with the premise. A good popcorn movie with great action scenes either way though.

In most fantasy series, a sense of honor is rarely a weakness or it works out in the end.

Well, old school fantasy anyway. Newer fantasy very much follows along with Martin in this regard, at least with guys like Joe Abercrombie, Steven Erikson, Jim Butcher, Scott Lynch, Mark Lawrence, R Scott Bakker,Daniel Abraham and a few others. Realistic and gritty is actually more the norm these days in fantasy, at least for the good authors.

You know there is a lot of stuff that is pretty glaring if you take a step back and look at it. I never even thought about Varys talking to Kevan at the end of ADWD.

He has absolutley no reason to lie to Kevan about Aegon being a true Targaryen. I supposed he could be using a similie to say Aegon still lives in a sense, but it is a stretch. I just don't know anymore.

Martin sometimes seems to like to end his longer works with a epilogue set sometimes after the main events of the story. My theory is that he does that here and here are my crackpot predictions of the epilogue:

Which ones are you referring to here Methuselah? Only one I can really think of is Fevre Dream. I haven't read all his stuff, but Dying of the Light, Tuf Voyaging, Nightflyers, and Armageddon Rag don't really end that way.

Maybe Aegon is the real thing but Varys and Illyrio told the Golden Company he was a Blackfyre imposter to get them to break their contract with Myr.

No, that just seems took risky.

Jenny of Oldstones spoke with the woods witch and said that the "prince that was promised" will come from Aegon's (Egg) line.

quote:

She was friends with a woods witch who prophesied that the Prince That Was Promised would be born from the line of Prince Aerys and Princess Rhaella. When Aegon V heard the prophecy he arranged the marriage between the two

Aegon then had an arrangement to marry Aerys and Rhaella. They had Rhaegar and he married Elia Martell then had Aegon (Griff?).

To some the "prince that was promised" is also Azor Ahai. Could the Lightbringer be a metaphor and mean Dragon? Or is it a sword that is not found yet? (It was like 8000 Years ago)

quote:

A comet was seen above King's Landing on the night Aegon was conceived, which led his father Rhaegar Targaryen to believe that he was the prince that was promised. The comet was seen as "the bleeding star" of the prophecy

Could Aegon be AA? Bloodraven could be getting back at the Targs and joined the Other God against AA and the Red God.

quote:

In the eyes of Prince Aerys II and his sister-wife Rhaella, the tragedy at Summerhall either heralded or directly contributed to Rhaegar Targaryen's birth

Could Jon be the Lightbringer? Rhaegar was AA and Lyanna was Nissa Nissa. Rhaegar put the sword (his seed) into Lyanna and sacrificed her (sickness?) creating Jon (Lightbringer)

Also "The seed is strong"

Would Covington do all of this for a Blackfyre?

He has to believe Aegon is a Targ. That would be difficult to pull off telling the Golden Company leader that Aegon is a Blackfyre and Covington that he is a Targ. Then getting the GC leader to help with Covington faking his death. Those two would have had a conversation.

Unless GC leader was in on the lying to Covington.
