re: Breakdown of this game
Go read the thread that throws out LSU and bammer stats by the gump. We are leading the league in almost every ST category.

I just dont see how LSU's passing game gets the advantage when our DBs have shutdown almost every QB they have faced.

Its not the QB you have to worry about as much its our tall talented WR's.

re: Breakdown of this game
I'm going to have to agree with the LSU fans on this one. I know it's hard to do, but take the QB being rushed out of the equation and just look at our DB's ability to cover WR's. The fact of the matter is that LSU has the best 1,2 punch at WR in the league. They will be able to get separation from our DB's, you can book that. What we have to hope for is that our d-line makes JJ rush his throws and we have to hit him to make him feel our presence and force him to make bad decisions. But if you just look at WR vs. DB, LSU wins that.

No one has replied to my point here though and I think this will be a big part of the game. The OP said Alabama Oline and the LSU pass rush was a push. I disagree. Alabama is 12th in the nation in sacks allowed and LSU is 91st in sacks. Considering the Defenses we've gone up against, that is a big disparity. Bama Oline giving GMac time will be a big factor in getting a win. I think Bama has the advantage here by a comfortable margin.

I think this is huge. If LSU can get pressure on GMAC that leaves Julio out of the equation and gives our secondary help. I am not sure this is a clearcut advantage for the gumps. Many of the qb's we have faced either roll out ALOT or they are very good at running the ball, ala Locker and Tebow. Most of the others we faced rolled out. Also Chavis plays that soft zone witht the bend but dont break attitude. We dont blitz as much as we used to and I think that is why the stats are rather skewed.

re: Breakdown of this game
tuck, I'd agree that it is an advantage for bama, but only a slight one.
While LSU doesn't have a ton of sacks, they have been getting better and better at pressuring the QB. Alot of that has to do with Chavis dialing up the pressure more and more by sending blitzes. Early in the season he seemed to simply rely on the front 4. And bama has to account for Alem. He's a force if he gets going.
No doubt, it's a huge key for LSU to disrupt Mcelroy and make bama 1 deminsional. If saban's qp is making mistakes, he gets conservative to a fault. Always has.

Marquis Johnson didnt have a hard time shutting down Alshon Jefferey, and he is as talented as any of your recievers and MJ is our worst DB.

Who the hell is that? You sayin he is as good as BL? Its not just one WR you have to shut down its our group. Thats why our WR's are so good. You cant just focus on one (Julio reference)

Those are all great points, but I think this game will be decided by which ever coach has mind-fricked there team the best.

J Arenas 5'9" 195

Other than Arenas, who I will take my chances on, Who is that under sized?

Exactly. I don't think there are a lot of teams that have giant DB's. Our's are at least average sized and are very good. IF the secondary is the weakest link in Bama's defense, that doesn't mean that it's WEAK. All 4 of our starting DB's will play in the NFL. Yes, LSU has some talented receivers, but that hasn't kept them from being dead last in the SEC in offensive production.

re: Breakdown of this game
That is kind of skewed considering we couldnt runt the ball for a while and are still having some troubles. However you can't say your DB's are better than our WR's

I can say our DB's are better than any other DB's you've faced though.

re: Breakdown of this game
In Passes Defended, Bama has 5 players in the top 25 of the SEC, 1 of which is #1, and 2 that are tied for #3. Florida has 1, which is tied for 17th.

Not trying to down grade those stats, but is it possible that UF's secondary isnt on there much because the receivers dont get open?

I doubt it since UF's opponents have a 51.6 completion percentage and Bama's have a 47.2 completion percentage.

Bama has also played 4 of the top 5 passing offenses in the SEC.

Touche. I still think that LSU has the advantage in WR vs. Secondary category.

That's definitely the area that I'd think LSU would have success, if they're going to have success. I just thought I'd point out that our DB's are better than they're given credit for.

Bama's OC has been shitting the bed lately....he's already been called out by the fans.

this

1. One of the most physically gifted receivers in in cfb and you cant find ways to get him involved.
2. When you cant get him involved you throw 7 fades to the endzone into double coverage when you ran the ball to get there.
3. See 2. Against TN run all the way to the 3 then throw 2 fades to a covered JJ.Then your heisman candidate back fumbles fot the first time in over 300 carries and say if he doesnt fumble we beat them by 9pts. A td at any point in that game and we win without question.

Oh yeah they are definitly good, dont get me wrong. They MIGHT be the weakest part of your defense, but thats like saying Megan Fox's fingernails are the worst part of her.

All the LSU DBs are atleast 6'1.

We play with 3 CB, a FS, and a SS/OLB.
