re: Breakdown of this game
Lafell, RR,TT and others will show your undersized DB's THE TRUTH on Saturday.

Expect 4/5 wide sets from LSU to take the Bama LB out of the box and limit your blitz packages.

LSU will spread you guys out and dink and dunk.

re: Breakdown of this game
I just think your secondary hasnt seen receivers like ours. You have to admit our receivers against your secondary BY THEMSELVES is adv LSU. Pass rush isnt included

Our undersized DBs have been playing great. See Ma. Johnson against big guys, see Alshon Jeffrey.

On this thread BTW, it's nice to really talk some football.

I may agree with the first part, but the pass rush is huge in our defending the passing game.

Very true but I think the intent was to only compare the two positions against each other and not factor in Cody eating T-Bob.

re: Breakdown of this game
The fact that the OL & DL are a Bama advantage is huge. Because games like this are brutal and will be won in the trenches, IMO.

Bama 10
MSU,UGA,FLA,AU all scored 10 or more pts on LSU's defense, Bama can do the same, IMO.

LSU 6
I think Bama has played against better QB's than Jefferson (Ark,OleMiss,SoCarl,UT) and held them to just one TD in those 4 games.

Mabye true, but have you played better skill postion guys on O? RS, TH, all of our receivers, Dickson, CS, KW?

Stats and rankings can be deceitful. LSU has been getting lots of pressure, the reason we are ranked so low in sacks is because QBs always roll out of the pocket and throw it away.

We've been getting much better at sacking the QB lately though. Might be why Chavis is sending Coleman on blitzes now, he's quick as hell.

This is without a doubt my number 1 concern. LSU has the skill players, the speed, and the QB to win, but it's the line play that has me worried on both sides. Our DL has trouble getting a pass rush, and our OL is terrible run blocking. I am excited to hear that Miles will be running Ridely a lot more, our running game can't get worse.

Good thread, all great points.

No we have not. But Bama's defense has shown that if enough pressure is applied to a QB, he will have a very hard time getting the ball to his skill players. Jefferson will not have the luxury he had against Auburn a few weeks ago. He will not be able to sit back and play pitch 'n catch with your receivers all day. And, until a RB slashes our defense in a game, I don't see that happening either.

Very true, but I like our chances with quick throws to the talented skill players and let them do work. Not to mention JJ never stays in the pocket that long anyway. I see us rolling him out more to get away from Terrance "I destroyed CiCi's pizza" Cody.

So is LSU. CJ showed he has moves as well as TH. Our Kick coverage has been very good as well. We have TH and CJ with very good kick coverage, thats why its advantage LSU

I'll give you the edge in opponents' return yards, but that's it. I know that statistically, you have slightly better return yards, but you have to keep in mind that most teams opt to short kick to an up man against Bama rather than give Javy the opportunity to return it. So, even though his stats aren't as good as they could be, we're still getting the same field position.

re: Breakdown of this game
Most experts would say and have said our secondary is one of the best in the country. But LSU's receivers are good. The key will be the pass rush.

I just dont see how LSU's passing game gets the advantage when our DBs have shutdown almost every QB they have faced.

I've never heard this from the "experts"....as a matter of fact, i've heard that it's the weak area of the defense.

re: Breakdown of this game
One position on both sides of the ball that will be huge in this game is TE.
Peek playing would be huge for bama. Our D has struggled with TE's much of the year.
One the reverse side, R.Dickson needs to be a big part of the game. Especially with bama blitzing.

Another aspect in this game will be JJ's running ability. I wouldn't mind seeing Crowton call some timely QB draws.

At the end of the day, I think field position will dicate the winner. Much like the LSU v fla game. Fla controlled the field position almost the whole night. If bama is able to do the same, bama will win going away.
