re: Falcons Fans Crying About Officiating
White's No Call was just as bad of a call than the illegal contact on 3rd down they called on ATL on Reggie.

Eh,
I'm a falcons fan and I thought it was pretty well called. You can't say smith got held that much. With that argument, EVERYONE gets held on every play... it's just a stupid argument from either side to blame officials (unless it's UGA vs. LSU or something).

Either ways, the Saints won and the Falcons lost in a really great game. Could've gone either way and that's what awesome in this renewed rivalry! Good luck the rest of the season, the Saints are good - so are the Falcons... it should be fun!

Has anyone figured out what the hell was going on with that onside kick at the end, and why the Falcons were not penalized for having their whole coaching staff on the field??

Stop throwing beer bottles on the field. You cost us 15 yards!

I was at the game, so I didn't get to see this on replay, but there was a play where Reggie was in the slot and drew a defensive holding call. It looked like Reggie was off the line of scrimmage and the wide out was on the line, which would make Reggie an ineligible receiver, right? That's what I thought the flag was for, and it seemed the Atlanta sideline was lobbying for the same thing.

Again, if you're talking about the series after the interception when the Saints were about on their own 15 or so, the call was actually for holding Henderson.

The ball was thrown to Reggie, he was a covered receiver. The holding isn't the point I was making.

re: Falcons Fans Crying About Officiating
the refs kept atlanta in the game. otherwise the game would have gotten away from the falcons faster. the no call on roddy white was clearly obvious pass interference.. not only did white start the contact by putting his arms around greer.. he then pushed greer off from the back.

I think that the slot receiver is OK as long as he is off the line in that situation. The slot receiver is covered up, and ineligible, if both he and the wide out are at the line of scirmmage when the ball is snapped.

The refs were awful in general. They blew calls on both sides. This is an old article but it surveyed NFL coaches on the officiating crews. Triplette's crew is the 2nd worst crew. LINK

The NFL should never send a poorly rated crew to do a primetime game that has divisional and playoff implications. Their worst crews should be doing the Detroit vs. St Louis games every week.

I am glad we won but to whoever assigns crews.

there shouldnt be so many terrible crews. shouldnt the nfl highly invest in making refs reliable? since games can be decided by refs it seems

ETA: why are coaches not allowed to complain about refs actually missing calls? they are just supposed to smile and take it?

You could say the same thing about the SEC and the NBA unfortunately.
