Last week current Texas AD Deloss Dodds announced that he's stepping down as athletic director in August of 2014. Well now, according to bluegoldsports.com, West Virginia Athletic Director Oliver Luck will interview for the future Athletic Director position at Texas.
quote:

"Oliver Luck has ties to the University of Texas and is well respected within the college football community. Luck played a significant role in getting WVU out of the former Big East conference and into the Big 12. Luck has also recently been pegged as a top candidate to sit on the college football playoff committee. The University of Texas is confident that Oliver Luck would be successful at the University and can bring the Longhorns back to prominence."
I would think a Mac Brown AD hire would take the zing out of him possibly being fired as coach. If that all goes down.

Theory:

UT wants Brown to step down as coach at season's end and serve as AD. Brown says "no thanks, not ready yet." So UT solicits Luck, hoping that it will give Brown incentive to take the job now. Because if he doesn't, (1) Luck could fire him, or (2) Luck could do a stellar job and remain in the position after Brown retires, blocking Brown from that job for the foreseeable future.

Well know that Texas was going to clean house. There is number 1 if you don't count the DC Brown fired. Next, shortly after the season ends Mack Brown will go out on his own terms and retire. Texas will then likely land the most proven coach outside of Saban and turn Texas into a top 5 program.
