Dallas Cowboys VP Stephen Jones told the The Star Telegram that the defensive scheme former DC Rob Ryan had in place, was too much...
quote:

"Where we fundamentally came down with Rob is that his philosophy is about multiple scheme," Jones said. "I think you have to skinny it down. Philosophically, I don’t think Rob believes in that. And it’s not something that happened and all of a sudden at the end of the year we had a problem. I think Rob will tell you we had long visits about this in the off-season last year that there was too much scheme. He tried to cut it back and he did skinny it back, but it’s still a lot."

"This is no revelation we had after we went 8-8. This was after the year before’s 8-8. We just didn’t feel like at the end of the day Rob could skinny it back enough to our satisfaction that we could make plays."

@BuccWild

Dallas already has a smart MLB who can cover in Sean Lee. He led the team in interceptions in 2011 and had a breakout year, but in 2012 he missed most of the year on injured reserve. MLB isn't a need for Dallas at all, their holes are at safety, defensive tackle and offensive guard.

What's funny is of they think the Rob Ryan D was complicated......ooohhh buddy, Monte's Tampa 2 scheme is mostly checks and reads and its a whole lot more complicated

That being said these guys are being PAID to know it and if I was making that amount of damn money I'd know every players position like the back of my hand.

A smart leader type MLB is really a major need for Dallas, if they could get a guy like Te'o it would work, but not many good coverage LB's in this draft

U dont know much bout ball do ya? Guy has a SB ring as a DC, from a team that won it mostly with defense. Had the best defense in the NFL for years and years. Created the constantly imitated Tampa 2. And u talkin college...haha!

"The only reason that J.Jones let Rob Ryan go is b/c a tru legend DC was available, Monte Kiffin. One of the only possible upgrades over Rob"

The legend that got torched for over 60 points by Chip Kelly?

I guess Romo throwing his interceptions was Rob's fault too.
