UPDATE: Northern Illinois will offer one free ticket per student to the game, with the caveat being that students must pick up their ticket in Miami. The school’s official athletics website, NIUHuskies.com, will post several travel packages for students to choose from.
quote:

“We want our students to be a part of it,” SID Donna Turner told the Chicago Tribune. “We’d love to see a huge group of students get down to Miami.”

As of 11 AM ET on Monday, StubHub is listing upper section tickets for the 2013 Discover Orange Bowl — staged at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL — at just $9. With mid-major Northern Illinois earning a berth in the game and crashing the BCS party, the retail value for the game dropped as expected. Yikes.

Just checked again this morning on RateYourSeats.com -- more than 1,000 ticket listings. GA for $7, dozens of listings for $9 and Lower Level listings from $33. There are even a half-dozen Club Level listings sub-$100.

its the beginning of the end for these lack luster matchups. When the $ is impacted the system will get tweaked.

Why show the logo for the National Championship and talk about the Orange Bowl. Same venue. Not the same game.

I would hold off till the week of the game and get the free airfare/room and $500.00 giftcard to cover expenses for that kind of money.....Think of what you could do with that nine bucks?
