Patriots running back and former LSU Tiger Kevin Faulk was told before the Super Bowl he would not being dressed for the game and was designated inactive. He's played 13 years not only in the league, but for New England, something very rare for a running back in the NFL. He recently talked to Boston.com about the emotions that came with not playing in the Super Bowl and the possibility of this being the end of his career.
quote:

"That’s probably one of the hardest decisions I’ve made in a long time – a very long time. It’s what’s been taking care of me and my family for a long time and I have to make a decision based upon what’s best for me and my family. Right now and with the emotions that are going on and with the game that just happened last week, I know everyone was speculating that I was going to make a decision, probably today or what not; it’s kind of early. I don’t want to tie my emotions into exactly what went on Sunday that passed, what went on the course of the season, I just think it’s something that I have to sit down and talk with my family and my agent, teammates, former teammates that I’ve talked to, people that I really trust, for me to base my decision off of,” Faulk said.

Faulk was told the morning of Super Bowl Sunday by running backs coach Ivan Fears that he wouldn't be active for the game. He went back to his hotel room and cried a bit, then read his Bible until it was time to head to Lucas Oil Stadium.

Even though I am not quite old enough to remember specific plays, I remember looking up to Kevin when I was young. I was six years old when LSU played Florida in 97. I didn't reall understand football then but I can remember him and my parents talking about him. He was truly a great Tiger and will forever be remember.

i had the honor of playing against Kevin Faulk when I was at Barbe and he was at Carencro in 1994. One of the most amazing athletes I have ever seen in person and competed against. Great career Kevin...you have nothing to hang your head about...

Kevin is a class act! I will never forget being at Tiger Stadium in '97 when he beat #1 Florida.
