Recap: Tigers fall just short in Rupp, lose to Kentucky 77-76 in OT

With Tim Quarterman out for the game attending a funeraland Malik Morgan out for the remainder of the season with an injury, LSU was down to 2 guards. Andre Stringer had to play point guard for the first time this season. Still, LSU game the Wildcats everything they could handle. Julius Randle got an offensive rebound and putback with just under 4 seconds remaining to put UK up 77-76 in OT and LSU was unable to get a shot off before the buzzer.

Anthony Hickey continued to play his best basketball against his old favorite team. He put up 20 points and had an 8:1 AST:TO. The 8 assists were a career high. He also added 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Johnny O'Bryant had 20 points and 12 rebounds. Kentucky was led by Aaron Harrison who scored 21 points and James Young who bucketed 20 points.

LSU only allowed 65 points in regulation, their best defensive effort since January 18th when they allowed 58 in a win over Vanderbilt. The Tigers also hung in their on the boards, only losing the rebound battle by 3. LSU shot 40% from two point land, 41% from three and 75% from the free throw stripe. They only turned it over 13 times.

The Tigers certainly showed some of their best effort of the season and came close to their best victory of the season. With just 4 games left, LSU's NCAA Tournament chances are slim, but they still look to be in good position for an NIT birth.
