After getting a big win over Vanderbilt, LSU hosts Missouri with an opportunity to solidify themselves as a top 5 SEC team. Missouri comes in trying to do the same thing. Missouri has lost to UGA and Vanderbilt (two of the assumed bottom dwellers in SEC), while they were able to beat Auburn and Alabama. Missouri also has wins over UCLA, West Virginia, and Hawaii.
Missouri is a big team and do not start a player shorter than 6'5". That could be problems for LSU, but Quarterman, Morgan, and Coleman (all 6'4" and above) have played extended minutes in the 1-3 spots recently. It's Missouri's guards you have to worry about.
In their 21 point victory over Alabama this weekend, the trio of Brown, Ross and Clarkson scored 52 of the teams 68 points. They only had 4 bench points the entire game. LSU needs to come out with the same intensity they brought Saturday night, and it all starts with Johnny O'Bryant.
O'Bryant's 22 and 12 performance against Vanderbilt was just what the Tigers needed. With a new sense of excitement, LSU has an opportunity to get a big victory over a fringe mid to upper level SEC team.
Both Brown and Clarkson average over 18.5 points per game. They also do that with a slow pace. They average nearly 4 possessions less per game than LSU. If LSU can slow down Mizzou's perimeter players, they would have to feel good about their chances. Prediction:
LSU 76, Missouri 71
