LSU College Football Playoff Ranking should be higher
Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Sports
According to Pete Fiutak of College Football News, LSU's ranking at #19 is the biggest mistake in the initial College Football Playoff Rankings:
quote:

1. LSU at 19
In the process, each committee member has to go through each team and each slot on its own merit. On the one hand, LSU struggles with the eyeball test having been blown out by Auburn and struggling against Mississippi State until a late charge, and there’s an obvious issue with the two-loss status. However, the two losses came against the CFP No. 1 and No. 3 teams. I think Alabama is going to play for the national title, and if I had to rank teams right now based on what I believe, it would be No. 1. However, based on what has actually happened so far – and remember, this can, will and should change over the coming weeks – at the immediate moment, the SEC West pecking order has to be Mississippi State, then Auburn, then LSU, then Ole Miss, then Alabama, since there are no other losses involved among those five SEC West teams other than to each other. At 7-2 with a win over the No. 4 team, Ole Miss, a No. 19 ranking is absolutely absurd. It’s one of the two glaring mistakes in the initial rankings.
Where do think LSU should be ranked?

Hopefully fans will figure out we have no playoff at some point. It's being marketed by big media money as the first playoff. How can you call a system a playoff when all four teams are selected by a committee so no small fan base teams can make it into NC game? Big school fans take the bait because they have a chance to still make it into the NC game even if they don't win their conference. That's what media wants, all schools with large fan bases will still having hope to get into the NC game longer into the season so TV ratings will remain high and make more money. It's said to see where CF is going.

Well Machoman, if you were an LSU fan you would understand our confidence. First, take into consideration that LSU must have more first and second year starters than any other team even remotely considered to be ranked in the top 50 today. The Tigers do have one huge thing going for them. Their staff is the best in the nation in developing youngsters into top SEC and future NFL talent faster than anyone else.

Now that the staff has gotten the DTs playing closer to the level expected of an LSU DL, we all feel great about the rest of the season. Keep in mind that those two losses were mostly due to Miss st and Au running the ball straight up the middle all game long.

I feel great about the Bama game this year as well. But hey, don't take my word for it. Come on back after they play and let us all know what you think about the Tiger staff's development of young players. God help the rest of the NCAA if LSU's juniors who don't get first round draft grades would stay for their senior seasons. This year's team would maul everyone they faced this year without a doubt.

I agree with CharlesLSU, If LSU played Auburn and Miss. State right now, I doubt those two teams would man-handle the Tigers like they did earlier. I'm not saying LSU would win either game, but I don't think they would be blowouts. I believe LSU should be somewhere between 12 to 15.

The "blow out" losses would likely have much different outcomes at this point. LSU has evolved tremendously and rankings should be based upon CURRENT team strength. That said, I'd be fine with #15......the losses can't be ignored all together.

Oh, and Ole Miss at #4 is a travesty. They should be #7 or less.

You got blown out twice before November, once at home. Even worse, you almost lost to Florida. This article is ridiculous. That said, you should be ranked ahead of Oklahoma. How he has LSU ahead of Ole Miss and especially Alabama is beyond comprehension.

I honestly quit reading where he stated Alabama will play for the NC and that he would put them at #1 right now. What an idiot.

This is exactly the SEC "pecking order" determined by the TUba Top 101.

14-15 is more reasonable, IMO. If Ole Miss loses Saturday and they don't drop to 19 or lower, we'll know without a doubt that this new system has serious flaws.

We should get a big jump if we beat Bama, not to mention two weeks for teams just ahead of us to lose.

Not sure it matters until after we play Alabama. If we beat Alabama, we are clearly the best 2-loss team...

I would have us ahead of Oklahoma and Arizona.
