LSU Issues Reminders; Encourages Early Arrival

LSU's first SEC game of the season vs. Mississippi State on Saturday night is likely to bring a record crowd to Tiger Stadium. University officials are encouraging fans to arrive early and to take advantage of the new parking lots around campus. Per LSUSports.net:

Those fans coming to the game are reminded of the Tiger Stadium Bag Policy that prohibits any bag larger or purse larger than 8.5” x 11” or any backpack to be brought into the stadium.

The following is a list of other items that are prohibited from Tiger Stadium:

-Coolers, ice chests, bottles, cans, cups (or containers of any kind)
-Outside food and drinks
-Umbrellas
-Any type of artificial noise makers – violators are subject to ejection
-Pets of any variety (except for service animals)
-Video Cameras
-Weapons of any kind – including pocket knives, multi-function tools and any other items deemed inappropriate
-Smoking (cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and cigars are not permitted)
-Banners/Flags/Poles of any kind (or any obtrusive/obstructive signage)
-Fans can review all Tiger Stadium policies at www.LSUsports.net/faninfo.

Here are some other reminders and suggestions to be aware of when coming to the LSU game this weekend:

East Upper Deck Access

Fans sitting in the east upper deck are reminded that they can get access to their seats either by using the escalators on the east side of the stadium through gate 9 or by entering gates 22 through 28 on the south side of the stadium and using the ramps to the upper deck.

Traffic and Parking Updates

LSU has increased pregame communication to fans with suggested incoming routes, current conditions, and any adjustments made to the current traffic plan. Fans will be notified by email, through social media, and on LSUsports.net/parking for these updates.

More Parking Spaces Available in 2014

2,300 new parking spaces have been created this year and are available each home game. They include:

Nicholson Apartments Project (reserved permits) – 800 spaces
LSU Golf Course Driving Range (public) – 800 spaces
Gourrier at River Road “Levee Lots South” (public) – 700 spaces
LSU will maximize current on-campus parking space with additional personnel and painting of spaces in public parking lots.

Postgame Traffic

LSU is enforcing directional exiting from parking lots this year. Additional personnel have been hired to assist fans with exiting into the correct post-game direction.

Southbound traffic on Nicholson Drive/Highway 30 will be contraflowed (all lanes in use) from south of Skip Bertman Drive to Bluebonnet Drive.

Street Parking Not Allowed on Burbank and Nicholson

For safety concerns, street parking is not allowed on Nicholson Drive/Highway 30 and Burbank Drive south of Skip Bertman Drive. Tailgating is still allowed in the grass areas adjacent to Nicholson Drive, however, vehicles will not be allowed to park in this area. Fans tailgating in these areas are encouraged to use the Old Front Nine free parking lot.

Pedestrian Buffer Zone on Nicholson

A pedestrian buffer zone has been created on Nicholson Drive for fans exiting Tiger Stadium heading west. Nicholson Drive between North Stadium and South Stadium Drive will have no post-game vehicular traffic. Traffic will be forced north and south at these streets with no cross traffic allowed. This operation allows fans to cross Nicholson Drive without competing vehicular traffic as well as assisting with the contraflow process and the forced directional exit in the parking lots around the stadium.
