Rettig, a four-star quarterback out of Los Angeles (Cathedral High School) was third on the depth chart behind sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris.

He will have to sit out the 2014 season but will have 3 years to play after that.

Given that we typically have a quarterback or two injured through the year, I feel like he would have gotten some decent playing time before his time was done at LSU...

however, he has to do what is best for himself and I wish him nothing but the best..hope he has a stellar career.

I have no direct knowledge of why he was 3rd string. Maybe he should have been. But, if we struggle and that dude lights it up at Rutgers!!!!!!..............

"The Mick" Kind of hard to trust Les' decision making regarding QBs over the past 5-6 years. (except for Mett)

I would certainly like to know why and how he was number 3 on our depth chart. I just can't see how he could be at 3 with Jennings at 2 given the spring game that Jennings had. I don't recall seeing Rettig get that many snaps. I have that feeling we will be really second guessing this turn of events for him. He was all LSU highly recruited and a top prospect.

Good Luck to him. I sure hope we dont regret this later on.

I wish him nothing but the best. Rettig bled purple and gold and was constantly talking us up while he was in HS. I still would have like him to play some here but we have to trust the coaches. Good Luck to him in the future, I hope he kills it at Rutgers.

He'll have 3 years to play. He was a redshirt freshman this year.
