Ole Miss' Chief Brown Likely Out For Season
by Staff Reporter
June 4, 20147 Comments
Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports
The Clarion Ledger is reporting that Ole Miss defensive back Chief Brown injured himself during an offseason workout and as a result will likely need to miss the 2014 season.
quote:Last season Brown finished with 38 tackles (19 solo), a fumble recovery and an interception. He played strong safety and free safety.
Coach Hugh Freeze confirmed that Brown tore his Achilles, an injury that typically requires a six to eight-month rehab.
"Very sad," Freeze said.
Brown, a redshirt junior from Winona, moved to Ole Miss' nickel corner (husky) position in the spring and was expected to be Tony Conner's primary backup there this fall.
