The Orlandosentinel.com is reporting that the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL will be renamed the TaxSlayer Bowl.

Gator Bowl officials signed a new six –year deal with TaxSlayer.com, which includes renaming the historic bowl game TaxSlayer Bowl starting in 2015. The agreement continues a partnership that began in 2012 and extends it through 2020.

The Gator Bowl traditionally features a team from the SEC along with the Big 10 and starting in 2015, the ACC including Notre Dame.

Last season, Nebraska beat Georgia in the Gator Bowl 24-19

Not really...more to do with money...these bowls usually aren't all that well attended, yet corporate sponsors fund the events, and allow them to happen. Cash monies.
