The Miami Dolphins announced on Monday that offensive coordinator Mike Sherman has been fired after two seasons. The Dolphins were 8-8 in 2013 and ranked 27th in total offense and 26th in scoring at 19.8 points per game. The Dolphins scored just 7 points in the final eight quarters of the season and missed out on the post season. Per ESPN:

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross visited the team's facility Thursday searching for answers. All indications are that coach Joe Philbin is safe as long as changes are made to the coaching staff. Firing Sherman, who is a friend and mentor to Philbin, was a strong first step.

Not only was Mike Sherman a friend of Joe Philbin's, he was also his High School Coach, Teacher and Mentor. Ouch.
