LaVar Ball Says Son Will Have Own Shoe Even If It Costs Him College Eligibility
© Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports
LaVar Ball's Big Baller Brand unveiled a new $395 signature shoe for their 16-year-old LaMelo this week. This of course started the conversation of signature shoe vs. college eligibility, which LaVar says if there's a choice between the too, the shoe wins...
quote:

“He’s going to have a shoe,” LaVar said, via Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times. “NCAA ain’t going to tell me [anything]. Because they’re not my boss. That’s what they do, but they’re not going to be like, ‘Oh, LaVar, you can’t bring that shoe out until we tell you.’ What? Something that I’m doing for my family? That’s mine? I’m not under no umbrella.”
Yap, yap, yap. Can't wait until these shoes go away.

Lets be honest, its not like him or his father have some sort of expertise on making shoes. TBH its a shame, they're going to get rich mostly feeding off of poor communities who have their priorities upside down. 395 for a pair of shoes? What a fricking joke...

"NCAA ain’t going to tell me [anything]. Because they’re not my boss." I mean, is your son going to be playing in the NCAA? Because then they kind of are.

I laughed at your comment about a 16 year old having his own "signature shoe". All I can hope is that you're 15 years old or trolling.

What an overbearing dumbass. Let me completely ruin your draft stock, so you can peddle my stupid idea.

Yes, im sure a 16 year old is upset at having his own signature shoe.

They aren't Nike's. Kids who don't do their one year in college suffer for it in the draft. Brandon Jennings is the perfect example. There's a reason all these kids are doing their "time" at the collegiate level. LaVar just trying to stay relevant by any means necessary.

Anyone else think his sons really hate him?
user avatar

No. They have a dad who loves them and has helped them reach their dreams. Why the frick would they hate him? Just because he does things a different way than you would have done doesnt mean he is a bad parent.

Yea but why have a shoe and you lose your career. What's there to back the shoes up without at least being on the top stage to display them like most ATHLETES?

Him possibly missing the fall semester at UCLA isn't really hindering him from any educational losses. You're kidding yourself if any think any of these 1 and done kids get any kind of education
