Posted by BIG Texan on 3/26 at 6:07 pm
I'm not trying to sound like a know it all but prolly what you expirrienced is spawned bass. They act differently. I live on a lake north of Toledo, our fish have spawned for the most part. Yes more will in the next month. Fishing is great if you know how to catch post spawn bass especially with hig...

Meant to say grease not the country, mothballs don't think so they are in water and it rains a lot ? Someone said they used it and never had a snake problem ever. Put up another box yesterday as a hen was trying to get in a blue bird box yesterday. All of my other houses are occupied. It's on ...

re: Landscaping - what would you do with this mess?
Posted by BIG Texan on 3/12 at 4:48 pm
Man if it was me I would just do a real neat trim up of all of it. Might want to dig one of the small plants and put something with a contrasting color in there. Red Barberry ? Take it to a pro nursery and ask them for a suggestion. Digging up a CM is a major PIA....

Well I've been doing this for ten years or so and I'm tring the grease. Might try the PVC as I have two more boxes to put up. I once put a house 24 foot up in a tree 100 yards from the water and the hatched two batches out of it until a swarm of bees got into the house one year, so I went with the 1...

Your not too late. I have five and have three hens so far hitting them laying every AM. Some will lay two times som three times a spring. One thing I don't see in your box is a ladder. Take some hardware 1/4" hardware cloth and tack a three inch strip from the bottom to the hole. Fold in the sides ...

re: Pheasant hunting gauge?
Posted by BIG Texan on 3/4 at 6:02 pm
If you are hunting over Dogs get a 20. Shoot light magnums in 5 or 6. I use a 28 and shoot win mags 1oz 5 and have no issues MOST of the time. You will want to throw that 16 into the weeds as they kick like a 12 and weigh the same. Weight is the issue as you might walk 5-6 miles in the AM. You nee...

Forget the chemicals. Feed the soil natural products like compost and organic fertilizer and it will take care of your grass. Corn gluten meal is a great preimergent that really works on spring weeds,( example). Much cheaper and better long term results. Look up organic product place in Lake CHARLE...
