Argo spent ten minutes congragulating itself on the accuracy of it's cinematography at the end. It didn't open with a corresponding disclaimer, but maybe it should have since it won best picture over ZD30....

Had beers with a Marine Tuesday that was airlifted out of Siagon, and respectfully asked him this very question. He kind of split up the answer pretty appropriately. I listened to Jones presser today, he's snug as a bug in TN. Only way he's available to WV is if he tanks-and that won't happen in the Dana tanking timeline. RR returning would require laser butt repair for much of the fanbase. He's an innovator and arguably changed the whole cfb landscape, but pers...

Colorado is another program that just went wandering. It takes a village if a school is going to be a long-time national power. From Presidents to AD's to donors to a fanbase that will unconditionally support the program. Without all of that and some willingness to deal with occasional bad press, sa...

Effects & seamless shots were mindblowing. The score unlike anything I'd heard before (basically serving as sound effects) also mindblowing, to me anyway. Clooney was stupid, his dialogue was even more stupid. Ed Harris as the mission control voice was conspicuous...and stupid. I thought Bullock ...

A couple that aren't out front, but awesome. Floyd's Comfortably Numb & Good To Be King by Petty (on the fade). Hearty, warm arrangements. Petty may have been giving them a nod on that. And, yep I'll say it- Mayer has used brass pretty cool since his debut. Can't Help Myself is a great track. ...

re: Just how important are musical themes/film scores to a TV series or movie?
Posted by Backinthe615 on 7/7 at 4:14 pm
An effective score can be like a good haircut. If the barber did a good job, nobody may have even noticed. Not that I don't appreciate the big stuff, too-but if viewers don't leave humming the theme, it doesn't necessarily mean the composer failed, or diminish the role of the music. For tv, since...
