re: What are your favorite songs containing brass?
Posted by Backinthe615 on 7/10 at 8:47 pm
A couple that aren't out front, but awesome. Floyd's Comfortably Numb & Good To Be King by Petty (on the fade). Hearty, warm arrangements. Petty may have been giving them a nod on that. And, yep I'll say it- Mayer has used brass pretty cool since his debut. Can't Help Myself is a great track. ...

re: Just how important are musical themes/film scores to a TV series or movie?
Posted by Backinthe615 on 7/7 at 4:14 pm
An effective score can be like a good haircut. If the barber did a good job, nobody may have even noticed. Not that I don't appreciate the big stuff, too-but if viewers don't leave humming the theme, it doesn't necessarily mean the composer failed, or diminish the role of the music. For tv, since...

Bump, since out of curiosity I looked & HBO had The Pacific on demand. I already knew every episode of BoB. The watch Pacific 1st advice is right. If you compare based on depth & number of characters you connect with, no contest. The overall scope was different, too, as the series spent more time...
