re: shotgun fitting around BR
Posted by dawg23 on 7/20 at 5:20 pm
I don't duck hunt all that much, nor do I hunt quail or doves a lot. But I know they can "sneak up" on me, and I find that I sometimes have to shoulder the gun and fire more quickly than I'd like to. That (and shooting clays) is when gun fit is important (to me). ...

re: What's the best .22 lr revolver to buy?
Posted by dawg23 on 7/19 at 10:52 pm
I have a .22 LR SP101 in satin finish stainless steel, never fired, (NIB), wooden stocks, that I'll sell for what I paid for it ($625). Warranty forms have not been submitted, so it would go to buyer with full warranty. Sale would be F-T-F in BR....

Sounds like it might be a fairly good deal, depending on the holster and the ammo. BUT, keep in mind that Kahr's warranty 9unlike GLOCK'S) only applies to the original buyer. If the original purchaser already submitted the warranty card, the gun is worth less to you because it comes...

One or two of those "reasons" are theoretically valid. But there's a point of diminishing returns with handguns (all of which are relatively puny -- compared to shotguns and centerfire rifles). Somewhere there's a "minimum" line to not be crossed. Most SD handgun gurus will tell you that l...

Very few HP .380's (maybe Buffalo Bore) will penetrate 12" (in ballistic gel - this is the FBI minimum for penetration) and expand to over .80 caliber out of a short barrel. Federal HST in 9mm will do this. And the 9mm bullet will be heavier (147 grain) vs. ~ 80-90 grain for a .380...

Lot of good advice from Tiger on the Hill. ^^^ Much of the advice posted earlier in this thread is surely well-intentioned. But a lot of it is misguided. 1. Rear pocket < front pocket. Guarding against a gun grab is really hard when the gun is carried in a rear pocket. 2. 380 < 9mm. Why on ...

That's the right way. Those small guns do make it harder to stay clear of the ejection port. I guess that's another "benefit" of the out-of-battery feature. Theoretically the gun can't go off while you have the slide pulled back. But I'm with you -- I don't want my hand or fingers over the...

I can see where the "out of battery" might be disconcerting for those used to revolvers. All semi-autos will have this attribute. It's a safety feature. It means you can't shove the muzzle into a guy's rib cage before you pull the trigger, but that's about the only "downside" that I can see. ...

1. Brandishing (called "illegal carry" in Louisiana statutes) is illegal. Drawing a handgun in self defense isn't brandishing. 2. As was said, driving to your home after a confrontation isn't wise. Drive to a police station. 3. ALWAYS phone in a threat to the cops -- unless you're the one who ...

Yes you can attach it to the bottom of the boat if the boat has fiberglas hull. The data you listed is largely immaterial. Since virtually all SD ammo in 9, 40 and 45 will penetrate to the FBI minimum of 12"' in ballistic gelatin, EXPANSION (after it penetrates the BG) becomes the more important attribute. The good 9mm bullets will expand to .83 - .85 caliber. Will your...

Never -- we freeze filets (double bag with water in each bag, squeeze out all the water) in QUART bags. We label the bags with date, and eat oldest fish first. When frying fish it's pretty easy to figure out how many bags to thaw - rerely if ever have any go to waste. Fish that are 2-3 years old...
