re: Post some success stories on getting a grade changed
Posted by DownshiftAndFloorIt on 12/17 at 12:41 pm
Got an F bumped to a D after the final. Found a mistake on one of my exams. Got me 2 extra points on that exam which put my overall grade a half a point over the cutoff. Never sweated so much in my life. ...

re: New car question- Diesel versus gas

I find the interior on my Jetta to be exceptional for what is considered an economy class car. The seats are amazing. I wouldn't want to put the miles I do sitting in a corolla or accord, but that's just my preference. I rent a shitload of cars, and I've yet to drive something in the price range...

I'm not familiar with the DSG. I just know it's expensive. I would do what the manual says to do. Vette, you're correct. The main value in the diesel is that you get good economy while still having some power. Passing on the interstate is where the TDI shines. It'll run it's arse off and get well...

My uncle just got a 2015 extended cab. The new style door is awesome. It's still small though. The cab is more rigid now that they have the extra pillar to hang the door on and it should alleviate some of the creaky door problems chevys tend to get later in life. It's also safer if you plan on f...

I can't get too deep right now because I'm working but here's a short rundown. Scheduled maintenance costs are easy to find and add up. I'm assuming you're not worried about initial cost because the company is buying. The plus side is it's a nice peppy engine for a little car. It doesn't...

Besides the AFM clusterfrick, all of the LS based motors have been great. The 6.0 in the HD trucks (lq4 maybe?) is the best pushrod gasser ever built IMO...

Posted by DownshiftAndFloorIt on 12/17 at 9:04 am
I think there's a shitpile of them in Texas. I'd imagine that an axis hunt can be had for pretty cheap with good success. I know tons of deer pens have them. ...

How much money do you want to spend? Leupold has options from $200 to $2000. If you want a very good scope for a good price, a VX3 3-10x40mm is pretty much the perfect deer rifle scope for most people IMO. ...

Nope. To the best of my knowledge OSHA has no regs about exposure to sunlight. Humans were outside for millions of years without sunglasses. You'll live. Eta: maybe not millions, but you get the idea ...

My plan is to never modify any powertrain stuff ever again if it isn't a play toy. Tires and suspension are all I will jack with, and suspension would only be something like airbags. I HATE working on modified vehicles. I don't think I'll ever even put over stock size tires on a truck again. ...
