Best Movie Rants
Posted by K E V 8 4 on 5/29 at 9:20 am
I recognize that this has likely been done on numerous occasions here, but I was watching me some "Training Day" this weekend, and think I would put Denzel's rant (at the end, obviously, including use of King Kong metaphor) up near the very top. Off the top of my head: 1. Training Day - Denzel's...

re: I need some granite trimmed to fit a new gas range.... Ideas/suggestions?
Posted by K E V 8 4 on 3/18 at 6:38 am
We just did this with a cooktop, not a range. The installer charged an extra $50 (on top of $100 base charge) to cut narrow strips off three sides of granite. Dust out the wazoo. Came out fine, though. ...

Textbook move - congrats on being mature about it. When I was a young parent, I probably would have swatted that butt and showed more violence than necessary. The "ruler" would have gotten picked up in much less than 15 minutes, but not the best parenting style. ...

Try a Sauce Piquante. Start the same as you described, but after roux is done....add one 16 oz can of tomato sauce and shake in a good bit of Worcestershire sauce. Add bell pepper. Brown some sausage separately and add that also. Add rabbit after it has been cooking awhile. Cook until tender and...

I did and completed Level 3 a few years back. I'm a bit of an oddball, as I have an engineering degree and do not work in a field where the CFA brings much (tangible) benefit. I did it as a "poor man's MBA" and, at the time, was traveling a lot so the self-study aspect was attractive.** Oh....and...

House of Cards on Netflix - Director Voiceover
Posted by K E V 8 4 on 1/6 at 10:37 am
I started the first episode (Season 1) this past weekend thanks to recommendations on here (thanks, I think), but all of the episodes have the director commenting on every scene. I know this is probably just me being a dumbazz, but what am I missing here? I see only one choice for House of Cards an...

Didn't read all of the posts, but enough of the first coupla pages to see I might be alone in thinking the movie was long, tedious and not very good at all. Would not recommend. Individual characters and acting performances were good, I suppose, but that is what it felt like (each one acting on th...
