re: Johnny Walker Blue

I lump the blended scotch drinkers into the category of wine drinkers....there are people that love wine but don't appreciate the individual characteristics of the villages of burgundy, the regions of Bordeaux, the sub AVAs of California. I guess rather than saying a real scotch drinker I should've ...

Real scotch drinkers, in my opinion, drink single malts...and in the same sense have an understanding the regional flavors given. Highlanders like their scotch more like bourbon...milder, fruitier, oakier. Islays are full of smoke and iodine. Speyside is delicate and slightly salinic, etc etc. there...

re: What's a good red wine cook with?

The only time I would consider something dofferent is for flavor profiles...such as using a port/Madeira/Marsala...but even then I would use the cheap stuff. If you're not a drinker of wine, don't waste the effort popping a bottle that might go to waste....

It's treating me just fine. So much to do here and eat, yet somehow I've lost weight lol. I'm in wine distribution now, the restaurant hours were no longer for me. Quality of life with the schedule is great. Just came in this weekend back to BR to visit the family for by birthday/early Xmas visit....

All the kitchens around town use the cheap stuff and it tastes perfectly fine. Franzia burgundy is affordable, stays fresh in the box, and is dirt cheap...

It's a bit out of the way, but if you're ever around the energy corridor, petit cafe has some good food. Their food, top to bottom, is really good. Even the rice, as simple as it seems, is great bc of the quality basmati he uses....

I thought the hollandaise at ABE was the instant McCormick pouches last time I went. Funky yellow color and no depth of rich clarified buttery goodness to it. Never thought twice about going back after....

re: If bama is so great then why do they need the sec front office and offals to win
Posted by lilwineman on 11/9 at 3:35 pm
Did the refs pick up a second yellow flag following the PF penalty called on us that might've been on bama? I saw it get thrown,,,yet no call was made to dismiss it and say there was no second flag on the play. It just disappeared....

Miles in no way lost that game for us. You're an absolute idiot for even thinking that. Our coach put us in a great position to win that game as he did vs ole miss. Having the same zebra on the field that called PPs interception a few years back out of bounds is a start. That officiating in the last...

re: Boxed wine-experiences with it? How is it?
Posted by lilwineman on 11/2 at 9:18 pm
If u like the taste of cheap wine, enjoy. Keg wine is coming along nicely. Probably the best overall product for long term potential after open. Needs special draft lines and same gas system as Guinness basically. Some top notch brands but barely and difference in cost from bottles....

Those things are terrible. Could never rightfully recommend anyone to buy them if they asked my opinion when I was at churchills. Knew how they all tasted, which was bad, but understood how to sell based on someone else's likes....

Huge server base on FFXIV but you would be so far behind on content you may never catch up. And sadly, unless you join a free company or make good friends, not a lot of people are overly excited in helping a noob....
