re: Diamondbacks land Yasmany Tomas
Posted by papz on 11/26 at 7:21 pm
Naw. He's considered a normal free agent. If I'm a D-Back pitcher, I've got to be thinking to myself not only do I have to pitch in Chase Field, my right and left fielder are now Trumbo and Tomas. I'd be crying inside....

They're looking for pitching or attempting to unload contracts. Timing was off and/or their just wasn't a logical fit as he's not strong defensively. Another thing is that if he can't hit enough, he could become another Dayan Viciedo type. ...

re: How good is Jimmy Butler?

He's averaging more minutes so far this year than last season. He's 4 years in and put in a lot of work this off season. It's also his contract year. It's as simple as that....

Red Sox owner John Henry said he's optimistic about the team signing free agent Jon Lester. "I am. I'm hopeful," Henry said. He has also said the team won't be concerned about exceeding the $189 million luxury tax to improve the ballclub. The Red Sox just announced the Pablo Sandoval and Hanley R...

If Boston's offer comes up to around 130, I believe he returns to the BoSox. Even though he has no problem taking less money, the discrepancy between the two offer is just too big right now....

re: AL vs NL..The DH Advantage in Free Agency(Sandoval signing related)?

I believe the Padres were the only team to offer more to Pablo than Boston. The Giants made a good strong offer but they were not going to outbid Boston. I believe the upped their offer at the end to make it almost comparable but was still short. One would think when he initially signed and did...

Hindsight is 20/20. He had a handful of opportunities to score in the first half but didn't capitalize. You should start giving the board more of your expertise since you appear to have some incredible foresight... after the fact of course. That way, you'll never be wrong....

It doesn't. I think they payed a premium for stability. That said, I think he's going to hit very well there. Not 20 million dollar well, but enough to wear people won't continually second guess it....

I don't... for Sandoval at least. Considering he's on the right side of 30 and signed for only 5 years, and considering he's been relatively healthy, when you compare the dollars and cents to those 6-10 year deals that's been given out in recent years, it's actually a solid deal for both parties. ...

They have some OF'ers to trade and there are some promising prospects that are close as well. I think it'll end up being a RedSox/Cubs battle for Lester. It's got to be even more appealing for Lester to go back to Boston....
