re: Why Does Society Find it OK to Criticize People who Make the Right Choice?
Posted by N.O. via West-Cal on 11/21 at 3:20 pm
"If you want to be fat, fine. If asked, I'll say you're fat. I won't shame you, because I don't give a shite. If you're nice, I'll still treat you normally and ignore that you're fat. Ditto for being in shape. If you're douchey about the gym, I'll note that you're a douche." Reading this was l...

103-96, Pels. Not the best effort, but good enough. I don't know exactly how much I trust my prediction, but this is an important type of game to win. Opponent is perhaps not terrible but certainly beatable. On the road, but it's not a back-to-back, and you've even had two days which allows fo...

re: Pelicans and Flexing National Games

I am at a stage of life now (kids) that puts me in the 3-6 times per year group, so I will try to accept the "national TV" challenge. It really does look better if the house is full for national games. Of course, so much of what you see is lower bowl, especially sideline. I wish those folks could ...

"The improvement on D since Auburn has been nothing short of amazing." No doubt about it. The best coaching job, by far, that we have seen from this staff this year or perhaps even in recent years. from a unit that could not even begin to defend simple running plays against State and Auburn to ...

I need to get more up to speed on the modern stats, but the cool thing about AD is that they all tell the same story: we have an unreal talent on our hands. I can't wait to get to another game. A couple of random observations: 1. AD is finishing stronger and higher on contested looks at the ...

Zach, I am pretty sure the left (and others) continued to use the term pretty steadily throug the Iraq War. Toby Keith's (can't recall title) about our response to 9/11 was often derided as "jingoistic." I agree that you don't hear the term as much lately but I suspect that a Democratic preside...

The OP makes a good case for not firing Coach Miles, but are there that many people calling for his ouster? Most of the disaffected - me included - are critical of what the coach has done with this team, specifically the mishandling of the QB situation. the fact that Miles has accmplished a great ...

"i don't think we have any idea of what that impact is, yet." This is very similar to my view on it. It is beyond my spare time and scientific knowledge to have an opinion based on primary sources. I have to read secondary sources and do the best I can. AGW would, in a perfect world, be the su...

I did not read the NYT piece, but I thought a "grandee" was a nobleman or someone with high status. So, it would seem odd for me to have a division by ideology on the one hand and status on the other. I would think "grandees" would be those with big seats on committees regardless of where they fel...

"I'd be more pleased, but I'd still consider both seasons to have been wasted in terms of developing the future." We will just have to agree to disagree. It is a matter of degree, but the degree was significant. Going into 2005, JR was still developing but he was much further along than Harris ...

"Why is one coach crucified for this decision while the other gets a pass in retrospect?" The vast difference in how the two coaches treated the situation is a part of it. Russell play a lot and in "real" situations. Russell was also allowed to implode (Florida) but continue to receive signific...
