Bass Pro has some good combos as well. Get a spinning reel and have the guys at the store take the stock line off and have them wind a spool of braid. You'll be fine with that....

re: Does Welter prove his haters wrong this season?
Posted by TBoy on 7/17 at 5:43 pm
There were several games last season where Welter led the team in tackles. I've never understood the criticism. Dude quietly gets things done on the field. Maybe this year he can develop a new post-tackle dance. That might bring some people around....

When your kids are older it will be good to have a boat. But we are talking like 7 or 8 years down the road. Selling and buying later is not a problem. You do the same with cars. But when kids are young and money is tight you probably won't get value out of it. And let's face it, you and your wife ...

Too bad you excluded the beach. I recently spent a week floating in a large tire tube off of Santa Rosa beach in Florida, just east of Destin, and it was perfect. Get a large water bottle filled with an icy drink and a large broad brimmed hat and float a half mile or so offshore and look at sharks ...

I just spent several days floating offshore at Santa Rosa, just east of Destin, in an inflatable tire float. As the tide fell there was alot of baitfish about a quarter mile offshore. There were some very large sharks and some dolphin running along the third trench along the beach. There was a six...

re: Geothermal hypothetical question: cooling pool water

It would work until the subsurface shifted because of the water table, then you would be pumping mud into your pool. Just install a spray fountain. Air cooling works just as well....

I have the orange Shimano reel and it's fine. While I like it I have found no vast difference in quality over any of my other setups. My current favorite is a 9 foot rod which gives me more distance when I need it. I bought it at Bass Pro as a combo with a reel for like $70 and it works just as w...

You may want to add a vent opening in your gazebo roof. I like the shade sails and would recommend them over the large open deck area. You will have to sink the support poles through the deck. If you are interested in that, it is inexpensive shade but has to be integrated into the construction. If...

LSU's long term success has been a collective effort involving thousands of people. Hell, I'm partly responsible for having gone to games, paid tuition and fees and generally been supportive. McElroy hasn't intentionally done any of the the things that have added to LSU's success, so he's not some...

They run rough like a bathtub. I've fished out of one owned by a buddy a couple of times and hated it. I generally use a 13 foot Boston Whaler in the marsh and it handles wind and chop so much better than the Carolina Skiff 16. Personally, I wouldn't do it....

Piers would be interesting as they take you over several parts of the beach and sandbar system. I've been thinking about just surf fishing as well. I guess it would be best to use a modified drop shot kind of rig to be able to cast beyond the breakers and keep some bait suspended above the sand....

Fishing near Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
Posted by TBoy on 6/24 at 9:21 am
The wife has me going to the beach this weekend to a place on Santa Rosa. Does anyone know of any good fishing down there that I could try? I have no idea about surf fishing along there or if there is some structure nearby. We won't be bringing the boat so I'm limited. Any ideas?...

I kept a short , about 5 foot leash on my lab almost all the time when he was a puppy and every time he jumped I would step on the leash and say "DOWN". He would try to jump but the leash made it impossible. As a secondary control I would loop the end of the leash around a doorknob and close the doo...
