re: SCUBA computer
Posted by OntarioTiger on 7/23 at 8:29 am
Since Hat is a hell diver don’t ask him or he may suggest a bendomatic - the old and I mean old scubapro bladder meters :) Like others I have been out of the game for a while but suunto worked for me – their algorithms worked well for bounce diving and spearfishing something that others struggled w...

re: Chum for Fish off a Shrimp Boat
Posted by OntarioTiger on 7/22 at 8:51 am
Back in the day a padnah had a shot at winning king at the tarpon rodeo in spearfishing – he wanted a big lemon and you can catch them behind shrimp boats that are culling – so I said ya I will dive w/ you as a wing man (wtf was I thinking). We found a shrimp boat in shallow ST that was culling and...

re: What is the OB's opinion of eels?
Posted by OntarioTiger on 7/22 at 8:12 am
Eels are weird fish, in my current job I deal w/ them about 30% of the time as they are a species at risk and we have to manage our impact on them – I wont bore you w/ the details. But ya we don’t know much about them once they migrate to the Sargasso to breed or how they get from the Sargasso to s...

GP I live in the GWN (great white north) well I overlook New York so I am in the southern part but there are lots of guides , mainly in the north – most Americans that come up want to hunt something that different so they go after moose bear etc or in northwestern ONT there are massive whitetail....

re: Benelli Super Vinci
Posted by OntarioTiger on 7/17 at 8:26 am
I have shot vinci a few times at skeet range and really liked, it’s the only benelli that fits me well, SBE etc length of pull is too long, especially w/ heavy coats. I shoot beretta urika (a 391 w/ KO) and the vinci is the only benelli I would consider getting because it fits, the SBE etc are gre...

If you want a gas semi – I bought my daughter a weatherby SA 03 – a few people shoot them at a club I shoot at I tried it out shot it well so I bought one for her. Put a youth stock on it and she is good to go. Not the same fit and finish as a B gun but less the ½ the cost, the one thing I notice ...

I see a cpl of mentions of hevi metal – I tried these a few times for late season mallards and divers and they were money. Not nearly as expensive as hevishot but killed them dead – no cripples. I tried blackcloud BBs for Canadas and was not impressed – could be the gun/choke combo ...

biggest weight diff a 90lb tuna on 30lb test but biggest challnge to land would have been either a 25 lb jack in speck tackle (12 lb line) or a 20lb bull dolphin while fishing for chickens - the tuna was a challnge but well w/in the tackle - the jack or dolphin, sometimes its better to be lucky than...

Back in the day we would fill a couple of 150s, we would also rig up a small chicken as live bait and suspend him about 20’ down for bulls, maybe a lemonfish, tuna or hoo. Not only would you catch chickens you almost always added something else to ice chest and you also got a tripletail or 2 as wel...

Langston is rt its an epic hoist, they don’t grow them that big in ONT but we have colder winters. I have heard that bullfrogs were raising hell on native species out west.
