re: Using a Credit Card as down payment on car
Posted by PlanoPrivateer on 7/18 at 4:23 pm
I asked this question a couple of years ago when buying a Honda. Was told we could buy using a credit card. We had the cash to pay off right away but I wanted the 2% cash back we would get. Later we were told we could only put a deposit of 10% or 20% (don’t remember the exact %) on the credit car...

re: turnover rate and roth ira
Posted by PlanoPrivateer on 7/11 at 8:26 pm
Not an expert but I believe turnover rate is only one consideration that is part of total return. A mutual fund, just like you or me, will encounter higher expenses if we trade a lot. Also, a lower turnover rate may indicate a less active management style. For example, an index fund. If a mutual...

Do I believe in Social Security choice? My answer would be, yes. However, I think the average taxpayer, at this point in time, is better off with it. There are several reasons some of which have already been mentioned. Many people would spend the 6.2% instead of invest it. Others would choose l...

Buy low and sell high. At least you’d have the sell high part right. Unless, of course, the market continues to rise. I’m now semi-retired and holding steady about 50% stock and 50% bond mutual funds in my retirement accounts. In my stock trading (non-retirement money account) I am holding what ...

Your Roth 401K is through work. Do they match? If so, the match is probably post tax. Without specifics I'd contribute pre tax to the Roth 401K up to the match. Then I'd go to a Roth IRA up to the limit by law. So it depends on how much you can afford to put towards retirement. If you are marri...

I would put 6% of my salary in your company’s 401k and another 4% into a Roth IRA. Every time you get a raise increase the Roth contribution by another 1%. For the Roth I would go with Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund. Of course you need an emergency fund but some will say your Roth could...

Also if a bat is slightly cracked or spider webbed it is most likely extremely broken in or "hot". Jus...
