I was buying rounds in there when I was 16. That was longer ago than I'd like to admit. I don't think anyone over 21 ever went there in those days. ...

Staying and fighting isn't enough. That won't matter if most of your neighborhood sold out and left.....you will be penalized financially for sticking around alone. From the perspective of a middle class person in those days, you have to consider the school situation and the possibility of los...

Posted by dewster on 4/18 at 1:41 pm
New cars will get 50+ mpg, but they'll be electric or come with two power trains like the Volt and cost $100,000. The real question with a government push like the CAFE standards is if the cars will be affordable or desirable. My 2007 Chevy pickup truck will get 19 mpg in 20 years if it's...

A single guy on the gulf coast could probably live comfortably on that salary and still put away a lot of cash. It's not ideal, but I know families of 5 that get by on $65,000. Whatever you do, don't fall into the trap of having to have the nicest clothes, the fanciest vacation, and a bra...

I am with you on the Suburban argument. I'm not a fan of the newest model, but I've had incredible luck with GM full sized trucks in the past. The Suburban can haul anything I need, tows 5 tons, and based on my experience they should last 10 years with decent maintenance. They've been selling...

I agree....but my point illustrates that some people just don't try to enjoy themselves. You have to carve your life out when you are young and in a new place. It doesn't just happen. It's not the 1980s. Baton Rouge has recovered quite nicely from that crash and has plenty to offer. In t...
